Charity Event Suggestion

Hi,

i've been thinking and think its a good idea, here goes:

a certain amount of DJ's in a area of England hire a venue for free and do a disco for an audience in that area (e.g. sittingborune) and tickets cost £3.00 and all the money goes to charity whilst the Dj's get free advertisment and as well as MDD.

what are your thoughts?

Raise money for charity for the DJ that does the longest bounce! OR keeps bouncing for a whole day? Some DJ company's sponsers the event?

yeah and the DJ's do disco and maybe karoake.

I mean like one Friday night in certian areas of Britian hundreds of DJ's could do a charity party. we could name it the MDD charity party raiser.

Update: I was thinking there could be an outdoor daytime event after xmas and a night party.

in the day could be a local club with a football pitch or something for a HUGE!!!! disco and rides which are hired for free and the daytime tickets cost somethings £20.00 for all day. and in the night just a disco with karaoke about £5.00 a ticket and all money goes to a local charity. eg:

sittingborune- local charity
rochester- local charity
london- local charity
devon- local charity

it would really be good if this happens and a lot of people will have fun and hopefully raise of a lot of cash£££££££

A good idea.. but I imagine it would be very hard to organise.. and if the event is open to the public.. you would need all the correct licenses?

Im not sure about all the licences but if one Dj in a area of Kent for example booked a hall for free and then like 3 DJ's from MDD turned up and done a fundraiser disco-thon

theres a hall down the road from me that hires out halls for freefor charity events. and im sure many other places will as well.

How would they make any profit especially if they don't have a bar?

I wouldn't want to go to an all day / evening disco thing... just for the hell of it.

Its not for the hell of it. its being charitble.

Well this is a good idea but you have to be prepared to lay out some costs... like the cost for the hall, then you are going to have to pay for the rides as there is alot of time spent in setting them up and they need operators, Funfair ride companys ain't going to send their rides out for free when they can be out earning.

I organise a charity night every year with 300 guests + we hire the hotel function room which we get for free as the meal is 40 quid a head, i do the disco for free and put in a big video roadshow, the hotel then make money from the bar which is open all night plus people paying to stay over in the hotel rooms

In that case, just take a booking for £150, say a wedding and then donate your fee to charity!

Seriously though, Ive done a few charity events this year and they always cost money, take into account printing costs, staff, entertainment, refreshments, tickets, power and logistics, venue.

Not everyone wants to do stuff for free, thats reality, unless its for something thats close to everyones heart.....

With all due respect, Steve, I've come across a number of halls which are available for free hire.

The reason is simply because they make their money behind the bar.
