How much to charge for a kids disco on boxing day

I have been asked to do a disco at my local pub on boxing day for the kids. Its from 2 till 6 and Ill be using there equipment apart from my laptop with my music on it.

The thing is I have got no idea how much to ask for. Ive been told as its boxing day I can ask for more, but how much more?

Can anyone help?

Don't get too excited at the pound signs! I'm working Boxing Day at normal price, it's local, and a regular venue. If the venue doesn't get enough punters in to cover your wages, they will not be too happy!

well normally I get paid £60 but its them who have said I can get more. The bar staff dont get extra but they get all the drinks people buy for them which last year one member of staff got 40drinks bought for her.

I dont know what to say to them

For a four hour kids party, £60 is not excessive. Good luck!

Apart from the price--can you entertain this lot for 4 hours?

Most childrens Entertainers including me reckon 2 hours is top whack for the attention span.

At least time and a half surely = £90. That's not a lot to ask for, even for the small pubs

I'd say £60 is very cheap for 4 hours, even on a normal day.. so i'd be quoting at least double that for Boxing Day.

Im charging a local Members only club £100 plus drinks and free membership for a karaoke on boxing day evening so a kids do would be the basic cheap £100 for me to do something on that afternoon

UNLESS of course youve done a few successful kids parties before for four hours.

Mr Mayhem who is the expert on here for Kids Parties does a mixture of everything but im sure he wont go beyond 2 hours.

All kids parties I have done have never been longer than 2 hours and I think £100.00 is fine for that, even down here in hampshire. I am at a local pub on Boxing Day and I'm doing it for £250.00 like I do every year. I get free drinks too and I can store my equipment there until the next day so I tend not to have too much on xmas day.

4 hours for £60.00 on Boxing Day is a bit of a 'P' take to be honest, at least round it up to £100.00. Saying that, if you are happy enough to do it for that then it's up to you isn't it.

Yes I have dont a fair few kids partys that long, Im a youth Worker aswell so got loads of games in my head for the kids, in the 4hours Santa is visiting aswell so that takes abit of time to hand the presents out

Ahhh Boxing Day, I do a regular Social club here in Banbury on boxing day and have been resident at it for 18years!!!

12 Noon - 3:00pm (Matinee Show) then back again at (8:00pm - 11pm)

Yes you are right in saying I do not do Children's parties for longer than 2 hours but boxing day is for families so I involve the adults as well :eek: .

Off Topic for a second, last year I had one of the dads say that there are 2 things that make their families Christmas
1) Santa and 2) Mr Mayhem!!

Charge wise, this can be a hot potato for anyone just starting out because there are some individuals who really try to whack the price up, I charge the equivalent of 2 x kids parties and the club is happy, plus it gets rammed at both shows which is always nice.

One other thing I have found is all the DJs who are not out seem to come to my shows with their families to chill and have some fun, its just like "An Audience with Mr Mayhem"

After shoving 10,000 calories down your neck the day before....:eek: along with a load of beer and spirits......not sure i would wan't to go out.....

BUT if i did......i would be looking at £50 per hour (if local).....:sofa:

...however, I would work on Boxing day, and have done on a few occasions in the past. My friend is doing his usual pub quiz on Boxing day, but I've decided not to do mine...although I AM doing my usual Tuesday quiz on new year's day.

I wouldn't mind working either Christmas Day or Boxing Day, but I wouldn't do it for pennies. In fact, I'm actually actively looking for something to do on Christmas Day to get away from it all! If I had a family and kids, obviously it's a different situation completely.
