For the last 3 years I have used the Powered Mixer XR800F -500 watts RMS per side into 4 ohms with Pro 15 tops and Pro Subs sometimes.

Even the Pro 15s give a fair bit of bass on their own, its only Marquees and bigger gigs that I use the Subs.

No problems at all.

You get a 5 year warranty with all new Peavey Speakers.

A friend of mine who plays in a Band has used Peavey for donkeys years and
rates them.

Peavey is probably better known in the Band market than DIscos but I have no complaints.

There are better speakers around im sure--but im happy with mine--the only reason I will change will be to get lighter weight equipment.

over the moon with mine most of this year just been using my XT500s on ther won and more than upto the job. Like Crazy I only use the bins for larger venues .

I often see bands using Peaveys of one model or another and like them I am mor ethan happy with them.

For the 5 year warrenty dont forget to fill in the warrenty card and send it off.

I have blown a few cones but this turned out to be a faulty amp =- But replacement was next working day so well happy there.

Agree with everything so far, I have used Eurosys3's ( 15" 150w Rms) for many years, great kit. The only caution is that ( perhaps) the more recent kit is not of the same quality as the older stuff. ;)

thanks all for your help. a few of you has said about a 5 year warrenty with them, would i get the card if i ordered them from thomann because thomann give you an automatic 3-year warranty on everythink.

Great sound, but too big for me, and those teardrop handles make them very awkward to carry.

Erm, think Rob was insistent on carrying two at once and couldn't manage due to the weight/design of the speakers? :rolleyes:

I use Peavey Pro15's & Prosubs exclusively after auditioning many others and for the money they're unbeatable. Check out stagebeat.co.uk for a good price/package as they're usually pretty good, and no fuss over the warranty.

Will you be using the PR10's with Bass Bins as I don't think they will be suitable to use for a disco on their own?

ive looked @ the specs of the thomann pa 252 and the peavey PR10 and im better off with the thomann ones.

Correct!

Technical point here Rob.

The handles are actually only there to hoist the speakers up on to stands or poles as far as I am concerned.

To carry the speakers just treat them like a box, carry by the bottom corners.

Ahhh...but in my experience the speakers STILL aren't as easy to lift onto stands when they have teardrop handles as when they have nice long bars going lengthways.

as i said on another thread recently i used peavey for years and cannot say a singlr bad word about them never blew any components and when i sold them after a good 5 years on the road they were still totally intact no rips in the carpet or cracked handles .... kind of miss them sometimes it was like ditching a friend that hadn't done anything wrong :( :(

Due to circumstances beyond, I used my Eurosys 3's only last night, and I had forgotten how good they were. Nudge the bass up, and away we go. Excellent kit. I shall be sorry to say goodbye to them when the new ones arrive. :(

I have used peavey in the past on my discos. I thought they were good. Ok theyre not the best sounding speakers in the world. But hey they were ok.

I myself have had a pair of the peavey eurosys 3 cabinets but they were the newer eurosys 3s before they were changed for the Pro 15s. I run them off a Peavey PV-1500 power amplifier. Then had a pair of Peavey Hisys 2RX cabs then changed them for Peavey Impulse 1012s. use them for a year or two then bought a HK Audio system

The peavey gear never let me down.

I have used Peavey in the past and would NEVER EVER get them again. We had the 4XT (2 x 15" & horn) in the band I used to be in. Consistently blowing horns (about 1 every 3-4 gigs). Bought Mackie Actives after that and never looked back.
