e bay again

Looking to bid on some Country and Western CDs in USA.

Theres a load for sale at a good price but im a bit concerned because--

1. There is this wording on the ad--DJ WU and other mix DJ'S CDs are provided to you courtesy of the record companies and managers for promotional use only NOT FOR SALE. DJ WU is friendly with the marketing guru's at all the majors RECORD LABELS. DJ Wu CD'S are given away for free in Nashville. Any fees collected are for the sales of The Service, Shipping and Handling.

2.Seller hasnt answered my questions whether there are any legal angles and if they are in good condition and originals---not live recordings AND WHAT THE POSTAGE WILL COST TO UK.

He has confirmed though he will take my credit card --thanks a bunch eh?

They appear to be flogging off free promo CDS from Nashville.

I also noticed that there had been a bid on these CDs--suddenly theres no bid--how does that work--can you withdraw a bid?

Cant decide if there dodgy or not Rob.

They are good value if genuine originals in good condition---I have my doubts.

Unless the seller responds in the next few minutes to my questions its a non starter.

Auction finishes shortly so he will be out of luck--im going to bed:D

it depends how much cash they are- do they have high feedback?

if you feel uncomfortable dont do it but there are plenty of genuine ebayers out there.

no one is forcing you to buy them....

If everything was above board, it would make sense for them to answer your questions, as they would be more likely to then make a sale.

I have just received an answer from the seller--so im going to bid.

20 dollars to send 20 CDS to me, that nearly doubles the cost but would be good value.

Just noticed the factory sealed Cortex HDC 1000 which I want to buy didnt sell on the USA auction despite being priced at £176:eek: :eek: :eek:

Its up on bids again and as far as I can tell its brand new unpacked with serial nos and warranty so all I have to pay is tax and carriage.

Checking voltage but I think its ok.

Sounds ok to me at at around £176 plus 30 per cent tax (estimated) with £25 postage and £6 insurance. Total £259.

Not seen anything close to that in UK?

Got my 20 Country CDs after a reminder.

Overall pretty happy with what I got--until I tried to leave feedback.

I have actually made some very useful CD e bay purchases from USA ---its just that theres a percentage of dodgy e bayers out there--

One of the biggest annoyances I found with eBay was that VAT registered sellers were allowed to list and then add VAT on to the final price (which isn't always bluntly obvious when bidding, sometimes you don't know until you've won the auction). Thankfully, eBay have finally seen the light and banned this as of the 20th of this month, meaning all prices are inclusive of VAT. And it's about time too! :davetony:

Partly because I don't think it's right that dishonest sellers should be able to get away with avoiding charges...

...and partly because it would be so easy for ebay to stop this (simply by starting to charge on the item price AND postage cost added together).

If they did this, they would make much more money from their sellers charges, and yet for some reason they choose not to do anything about this obvious loophole.

..... so Ebay increase their revenue, and the Seller ends up with less proceeds :(

I'm sure Ebay have done that for their own commercial gain, rather than out of kindness to those bidders who can't take the trouble to read what they are buying before bidding.
