Hi there.

I have a 100 watt Dynatwin, I want to use a 250 watt lamp instead of the 100 watt lamp, question is, is it okay to place a 250 watt lamp in instead? I know there's a 250 watt model available but I received the 100 watt version as a present.

No you would need to replace the transfomer at least and even then it might not work.

No you cant just simply change over the lamps, the transformer would need replacing and the components inside as the lamp is a higher power. I have seen the 250w versions of these lights and they aren't much brighter than the 100w versions to be honest.

Mmm shame. Although I think the light gets an okay, I do prefer 250 watts better because of the brightness. Wonder if I contact the dealer, tell him the situation and maybe he'd offer me the 250 watt version at an additional cost - maybe a quick swap? I googled around and compared the 100 watt models with the 250 watt price wise and it appeared that the 250 watt models were around 30 pound more than the 100 watt model.

No, you can't unfortunately.

Is it down to the optics hence it doesnt look much brighter?

I'm sure Iv read a recent post in here about a lamp being brighter than another light but doesn't look that bright because of the optics. Is this technically correct?
