Kam Maderin Dragon Lamp Holder Fried =(

We have a Kam Manderin Dragon lighting effect with gobos and recently it cut out near the end of a gig. Taking the unit apart i found that for some reason the lamp holder had completely fried!

Not sure why it happened?

I can only assume it got too hot, but the fan works fine, and don't they have resistors in etc to stop from over heating?

Wondered if anyone else had a problem like this and know of any way to stop it happening again!?

I think you'll find the Kam Mandarin Dragon is in fact a Chinese Restaurant, and this is supposed to happen.

However, if you prefer a good old English fry-up instead, I'm told the Kam PRO2400 power amplifier fries an egg just nicely if you run it at 2R for not too long.

I used to use one and i used to be sweating with it mounted in the mixer case... i had to bin it after a while lol

OK, now why I should be the serious one, I don't know, it's not like me!;) In my experience, some lampholders are prone to frazzling themselves. It is not unknown for batches of them to be poor. I rang a certain retailer, and was told that they knew of this problem in a range of lights, and sent off a bunch of new holders return of post. Unless you have a trusted leccy/lighting/disco shop near you, take the old holder to your nearest Maplins, and buy a few. If the pins in the holder overheat, they lose contact and make the problem worse. After receiving the new ones, the problem has disappeared in my case. Good Luck.
