Friendly advice

I have just returned from my latest foray to a certain well known speaker company near Mansfield, where I learnt lots of things, ;) :D and parted with lots of money! :( :( :(

Here comes the advice:-
CD15SP speakers- Wonderful sound, lovely kit, BUT .............................
if you think Peaveys are a bit big, forget these! They are big, and won't go on tripods! ( Unless you know a scaffolding erector). Will post pics, and review as soon as possible.

215SP speakers- Steve, forget the 15's get these!!!!!!!!!! The earth honestly will move for you. I listened to side by side 15/215, and the extra bass was beyond belief!

MDD Forum- This forum is now known to these chaps, and despite the best efforts of some of us unofficial sales persons on here, this did not lead to vast discounts. ( If we suddenly get a new member from Mansfield, who knows a lot about speakers, .................)

Sensitivity figures- As always, these chaps had interesting and logical things to say on this and other related subjects , and if anyone is near enough to visit, I cannot recommend strongly enough going to see them.

I will keep you posted about how I go on with the new ones.

Update. Apologies for quoting myself, I know it's bad form. So turned up at new venue, determined to give the new gear a thorough testing, and find I am in a very small function room, 80 seats, with warning signs about upsetting the neighbours after 10pm! Not promising, eh? Having said tripods weren't an option, they WILL go on them, reasonably safely. It just looks like the PA for Motorhead! They really are intimidatingly big. As far as I could tell, they performed superbly. I just need some high grade tripods now!:(


On an unrelated topic, isn't it amazing how a crowd who are really up for a good time can lift your spirits and performance? :D Tonights were the best crowd I have had in all December. They made up for the grim ones I've had recently. The venue were impressed with kit , attitude and performance, so I'm high on their list for some weddings there I hope. Has anyone had experience of a venue bringing up the house lights when the bar closes? All my punters were out almost in unison. It ruins the atmosphere for the last songs, but really speeds up getting out. Your thoughts/experiences please.

Not had them put them on when the bar closes, but the disco carries on. Is that what happened?

Many will put them on if the disco is due to end as the bar closes, in which case I always make sure what time the bar closes and time my finish accordingly.

At the regular venue I play at they know my closer and always whack on the lights. It is always the best way of ending a gig and clearing a venue. I remember one place I used to do years ago where the owner thought turning the lights off at the end of the evening would send the drunks home. How wrong can you get?

Exactly what happened. As I said, ruins the last few songs, but punters out quick, so on balance a good idea. Was told they always do it there.

Im not in the same market BUT I find announcing very loudly--this is the VERY VERY VERY ( you decide how many times :D ) LAST DANCE works fine.

Update. If anyone is considering buying these, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you ought to look at them first. They really are very big. I haven't been able to listen to them really wound up yet, but I reckon they are definitely the dogs dangly bits!!:D
