I think most of us recce venues that we've not played before. Went down this morning to check out tonights (don't usually leave it until the day of but it's in Chesterfield) which is an 18th at the British Legion.

Was greeted by the steepest set of stairs you could imagine spoke to the barman who did a "changing rooms" like reveal on the function suite.

I thought it looked lke a store cupboard as it was littered with tables and chairs, he then showed me the "stage" again stacked with tables &chairs which he esures me will be gone by the time I get there tonight, however the Organ which is under the stacks had to stay there as it was "Legion policy".

All in all should make for an interesting night only going to take the small sound rig as it'll be more than adequate. Hopefully get some pics later.

Anyone else had some "function suites" of this nature?

several lol ..... all good fun and a good excuse to swear alot usually..

although recently ive had a few opposite people have said yes there is stairs to a function room and ive got there and there has been two steps.

if you ever get asked to play the regency suites in ilkeston make really really sure its very worth your while is all i'll say.

The British Legion in Tilehurst near me is very similar - perhaps they are all built that way! :p

This rather reminds me of something that might be a useful resource to MDA members--

I dont know the logistics, work load or otherwise involved but it has occured to me that a list of venues which have steps, stairs or particularly unusual or awkward entrances or access would be very helpful as quite often despite asking you dont get the information as various people on here including me have found out.

I clearly mean something akin to what Dave has just mentioned and also this thread---not the barman keeps telling you to turn the sound down.

If this is a practical impossibility fair enough--I can see there being legal problems possibly.

I dont mind offering to do some spade work on the PC if it helps--until April/ May anyway when I can get on my boat :D
