conecting my speakers to amp

i have a peavey xr696 amp Features:
2 x 600w RMS @4ohm
6 mic channels
2 stereo channels + 1 tape input
48 bit digital effects processor
3 band EQ on each channel
Dual 9 band master EQ
Monitor output
4 internal store locations
Feedback Ferret
Digital DDT speaker protection
Full flight case corners and handels
Rugged plastic coating

and have pro 15 speakers and pro subs amp only has 2 speakon outputs whats the best way to plug speakers in i think speakers are 250 w rms i have the older ones newer ones are 300w rms

Probably the way they're designed to go! Plug one sub into each channel, using socket marked in/low/whatever. Plug the Pro 15's into the high/high out/ top socket on the subs. No probs.

My concern was around overall impedence as the Pro15's are 4R :confused:

what i got the speakers second hand he said i have to have wires right way he had 2 ends of speacons taped up and said these need to go in to sub out put dose this sound normel

Don't start this one as well, please!:eek: According to Peavey, And just about everybody else) impedance is virtually unchanged if using the built in crossover in the subs to connect the tops. ;)

Unless I'm missing something, not quite.:confused: Sorry I can't find any pictures at moment, if anyone can help, please do.
Right, let's have another run at it. On the back of your subs are two pairs of sockets, Speakon and Jack. Doesn't matter which you use, just don't mix them for preference and clarity. They should say one Full/main or similar. This is where you plug the output of your amp, and the crossover inside the cab splits the signal into low- fed to the speaker in the cab, and high-fed to the second socket on the cab, and from there onto your Pro15. NEVER NEVER NEVER connect the amp output into this socket, unless you want some hefty repair bills!:eek: :eek: I don't know why anything is taped over, UNLESS the subs have been used with a crossover, in which case he probably wanted to make it impossible to do what I have just told you not to.:confused: ;)

Just checked the manuals and Excalibur is right (assuming the subs are the Prosubs and not the Prosub-Ps)

Prosub has a HF output which should link to the Pro-15 and overall nominal impedance will remain 4R.

Prosub-P (which I use, hence some confusion) has no HF output - just a "mirror" of the input line signal.

So, to answer the original question, the amp is perhaps slightly overspec for the configuration especially as you have the older 250WRMS/500W Program Pro-15s but so long as you're careful with input levels it should perform well and sound really sweet.

I think VV and Excalibur have explained this perfectly--but as a Peavey user heres a Barn Dance walk and talk through for you---:D

You have 4 speakers ---2 Pro 15 tops sitting on top of 2 subs

You have four leads --each with a speakon at each end--ahhh--now I recall theres a problem here because there should be 2 long leads and 2 short ones-long ones to go from amp to the pro subs--short ones go from sub to pro 15 and should be marked which end goes where as they wont work the "wrong way round"

Take the long leads-- Plug the speakons into the back of the amp ( two sockets are there you say) take the other end to the back of the sub and insert into "input"

Then take the short leads and insert one speakon into " hi pass output" at the back of the sub --plug the other end into the Pro 15 top using the
"input" make sure round the right way ---see above.

Thats it end of walk and talk through.
