W-Audio Gig Rig-1000

I am thinking about getting a small Pa for the smaller jobs that i do, I require some advice on the W-Audio Gig Rig-1000
Can anyone help?


Has anyone used one of these?
Are they any good?

I just had a google on this because I'd never heard of it!

There seems to be lots of people selling it at £550ish but you have to ask yourself does that price sound right for 1 x sub 2 x mid/hi's 3 x amps* 2 x stands and the cables & covers?
what sort of quality & reliablity would you come to expect from a system like this!


*(although some site market this system as active they also list 3 amps in the package)

Well i noticed that Hk do the smaller system at a similar price so im stuck which to go for...

But this system is only for the smaller jobs like 50+ people, I use turbosound at the moment, yes its going to be a bit of a come down but im sick of killing myself lugging the turbosound stuff into small venues or up steps to find out the function room is tiny.

Looks quite good to me but I don't see the point of a 15" sub for 50 people ,
Why don't you just go for a pair of good 12" full range ? I have seen some EV plastic cabs for a good price.

Well im hoping that it could handle upto 100 people.
dont think double 15" bass bins are exactly ample for it lol

unfortunatly lugging equipment about is part and parcel of our work!

now? I not saying this is not a good system because I havn't seen it or listened to it either but for the price I wouldn't have thought it would be that good of that reliable!

if as you say your using a turbosound system why not use one of the bass cabs from that and just buy a small pair of quality speakers to go with it! you could even keep it all turbo by going for a txd121! and use your exsisting amps to power it with!

if you still want to go the micro system route stick with the Hk system at least it's a known brand.

Personally no, but Twinspin had a HK Lucas rig for sale.

That to me seems a very sensible suggestion. Lose some bass, but gain lots of mid, good thinking.:D

I have deciced to go for a HK Audio Lucas 800 system, I am thinking if i get that i can use it for the smaller gigs and also hire it out for conferences and any event that needs a small sized Pa.

I had a look at them turbosound 8" TXD's i currently have a pair of the 12" tops and i relly do like them. I am still thinking of getting 2 single TXD15" bass bins to match the 12" tops.

That to me seems a very sensible suggestion. Lose some bass, but gain lots of mid, good thinking.:D

Plus if you take care where you position the speakers, you don't need to lose too much bass.

Placed against a wall, or in a corner, the bass is enhanced by reflections... or.... dare I say it.... with speakers on the floor you will get more bass too.

You don't gain any points for breaking your back carrying heavy kit......
