Numark HDCD1

Have just brought a Numark HDCD1, not sure if I've done the right thing it's just an alternative to the laptop should it go down . It seems very complicated and quite slow to use , anyone got one ? any advice on setting up music catalogue & any tips on using would be appreciated.

I didn't know they were still selling them. I seem to recall nothing but agro when they were brought out.

I would've thought the obvious alternative to the laptop would've been another laptop? Build 1, clone it, keep the music on an external HDD (or better, two). Job done. No need to have two ways of doing things, keeping two seperate libraries, different tags, setups, two lots of buttons to learn :confused:

Wouldn't it have been better to ask for advice about a back up system BEFORE you bought the Numark?

And to be honest Paul, you could have bought a Denon HD2500 and a Cortex for that money!

Blimey, didn't know they were still around. Guess you could of got the DNHD 2500 with the CD drawers for that, suppose thats not much help now though.

File wise and cataloging, the most important thing is TAGGING all your MP3's correctly, but if your already using a laptop, this will be done already.

The main reason I brought it was for back up if the laptop went down, I got fed up taking CDs with me and not using them , also the laptop makes you very lazy instead of thinking about which song you put on next I tend to go through a list of possibilities.
I obviously didn't pay full price, had that been the case I may have chosen something else, It seems very good but very complicated & slow, looks like I'm the only mug on here with one , never mind I will persevere with it, who knows maybe I will start to use the laptop as back up .

i find the opposite now i use a laptop instead of snatching at the obvious with a cd because you know where it is and dont have to spend 3 minutes searching i find i have time to think and say to myself ...well id usually play this .....but .... im going to try this tonight.
