As it say's.......is anyone on a diet at the moment....trying to get rid of the Christmas and New Year blow out....??

I have been since 2nd January......

Must admit i find it really boring........no beer or goodies....
Although i tend to sleep better now......but i just find the food so....well .....taste like :Censored: ......:D

Anyone have any good tips in the diet food area.......??

I'm only doing it because the MD is on it.......every bleeding Christmas.......and each time i say i like my 'roundness'........:D :D :D :D :D

Thanks.....:)

See, I don't get that, healthy food tastes like ****?

My diet is fairly healthy, I tend to avoid eating a lot of meat, and particularly anything that has been sliced off a pig :)

I actually cannot stand fast food like McDonalds and the like, and I don't appreciate fizzy drinks much either.

I think it's more a matter of what you are used to?

Maybe, maybe not.....
I'm not saying i eat crap every day.....i eat fruit, cereal, fresh veg and pasta.
I like meat - all types and don't stuff myself till i can't walk.....

I think i eat sensibly...but...diet food lack's what i call flavour.....i.e...'fat'.....of which gives food it's flavour....and on a diet you can't eat what flavour's food....'fat'!!

If that makes sense......:)

I don't see how you can say that. It's all down to what it is & how you cook it.

Right I'm off for sausage, egg, bacon, beans, b p & a fried slice :sj:

I'm dieting - has been an ongoing thing since last year - I got down to 16stone from 18.5 but now back up to 17.5 for various reasons (I keep eating!).

Target is 15 stone by this time next year which I know I can do as I got down to 16 stone easily enough.

Diet consists of: no prepacked produce, fresh veg and fruit everyday, no red meat (plenty poultry and fish), pasta, rice, low-fat items and, if tempted to nibble - seeds, etc, rather than Cadburys!

Also avoiding a lot of the additives in food can help, especially aspartime as a sweetner as it makes you retain water.

Main thing for is to stop snacking. This also means one visit to the buffet and only having salad, which I usually do anyway.

Oh - there's also the big 'E' word that goes with diet - EXERCISE - which means getting off my rump and getting out there, taking a walk, etc. I'm no gym rat but will happily sit in my chair all evening.

Good luck all other dieters.

Don't people eat pasta to help them bulk up? I'm sure a mate of mine did. If so it's not the wisest thing to include in a diet.

Must go & have that fry up, it'll be lunch time before I have brekkie at this rate! :sj:

Bulking up isn't bad as it makes you full and not want much else. It's what you add to the pasta that's the killer.

One think I was told by the rather nice dietician at the hospital (I was referred to see one a few years back) was drink plenty of water.

I've got a few diet books here - Gillian McKeith (who's not a doctor), the Mayo clinic and a few others. Never tried the Atkins and also never followed one of the diets explicitly - more just use the books for guidance.

McKeith's book is good - tells you to examine you poopy deposits - but she fails to actually tell you what a good download should look like.

I've lost 8-9 kilos in the last year by simply not eating carbs when I get home from a gig and drinking more water over all. No other changes to my eating or exercise habits.

I dropped 3 stone in 6 months by making 3 small changes to my diet...

1. Nothing with a fat content > 5%
2. Eat breakfast even if it's a slice of toast or a weetabix
3. Eat a bowl of shreddies instead of a full dinner every other day.

Anything else goes, without being silly of course. I didn't stop the :beer1: but tried to drink more wine instead.

McKeith's book is good
It maybe good.....but her voice is like scrapping fingernails down a black board!

tells you to examine you poopy deposits
  ...nice if your round friends........gives a whole new meaning to 'Now Wash Your Hands!!'.......:D

but she fails to actually tell you what a good download should look like.
It might be because she's full of it.......:D

We are having a night off tonight.........not going mad but ditching it for the night only......

Steak with stilton and canberries, baked potato and coleslaw.....glass of wine and a beer...........been starving myself all day.........:)

I'm off the beer already, Low-Cal Mixer & Vodka for me at present. :)

Tomato sauce on the beans Vs juice from the tomatoes

Vectis
14-01-2008, 10:01 AM
Beans AND tomatoes is OK so long as:

a) the tomatoes are NOT those horrid sloppy tinned variety
b) they don't touch. They must be separated by a sausage barrier.

Also neither the beans nor the tomatoes can touch the mushrooms! Eggs or bacon make a good damp-proof course for the mushrooms!!

Anything else goes... :D

Bean sauce must never touch the egg, mushrooms go with everything.

So I'm not the only one who uses the saussage barrier method then.
