Got my new CLass D CD-158-1's in the post yesterday.

Soldered up some speakon leads and away i was.....waking up all the neighbours.

I really love them, they have a nice punch to the low end.

Got to say i really have joined the Class D club

I bought a pair of their 12" 2-way speakers last month... bargain price of £30 for the pair... and they are great, too.

A good quality 12" for the price of an 8" soundlab (not that I'm knocking soundlab, so don't start......)

Put me down for ClassD membership too.....

I was helping out a friend at an 18th (grimace..) last week, and he was using Class D stacks. I can only assume he didn't have them set up correctly, as the sound was pretty awful, with no amount of EQ teaking on the mixer improving it. I didn't want to interfere though, being his gig and all.

I think it may well have been them, yes. I've a feeling the poor sound was down to him, rather than the equipment, as he has a tendency to push things too hard (he's not really a mobile DJ, he does parties for people he knows, and plays a lot of 'dance' music). He kept pushing the mixer into the red (my mixer as it happens), so I adjusted the master on the mixer and the amp levels to give him more head room - but he just kept turning it up further :rolleyes:

I suspect the speakers are damaged, as the sound was very muffled, but I don't think anyone noticed.

I have heard them, and the only word to use was awesome, particularly regarding low end!:D :D :D They made my CD15 SP's sound very lacking by comparison.;) Steve, did I say I'd got a pair OF CD15SP's? They're very good, but they're also very BIG!:eek: :D :D
I bet I know what was wrong with Callum's friend's speakers;)

I've never heard these but they do look fantastic, love that horn design.

I bought 4 compression drivers from ClassD that they use in these cabs for a club install and loaded them onto some Eminence Horns, they were pretty impressive and for the money were a steal. I think I paid about £7.50 each for them..............which is a lot less than I charged the club. :D

Coming in at around £2000 for a pair and I think my classD’s sound better.

I've run one of my rigs against RCF, same mixer, same EQ. My playout was Cortex, his was Denon. Three guesses which sounded better. ;) Venue staff said it was the best karaoke sound they'd heard. :D

Disagree there. Ive heard my RCF against a dj up here with Class D. They are good, but are still budget. Even the other dj said how good mine were. If i was on a budget then i would defo consider Class D, but i wasnt :D

Sound quality is subjective. On the one I'm referring to, two of us listened to both rigs, and the ClassD were warmer, more mid, and just nicer.

Up to now, I've not run my Class D against anything where I haven't preferred mine. Mackie, RCF, Peavey, Peavey. I don't dispute that better exists, just that it doesn't exist in my price range.

BTW, there's a vast range of Class D kit. The Pro Audio gear is awesome. ;) Sadly the price tag reflects the upgrade. :( :( :(

The 'sp' class-d speakers do sound totally different to the normal class-d's mind steve. I have had mine up against mackies and passive RCF but never active RCF. When I am across your way next we could have a sound off :D :D :D

You can use whatever you like, but you won't hear £1500 difference in the sound quality. ;) you'll hear £500 difference in the volume though I'll readily agree. :(

Running my setup with either 2 warrior 1300w or one 2400 thomann amp. Loud enough methinks, but agree the actives still kick butt with volume.
