Gemini PMX 18 mixer

I just bought one of these for £16. It was advertised as untested as the seller didn't have the right power supply (15v). Unfortunatly the power supply I have only goes up to 12v. However, I connected my hifi's turntable into CH1 and my pc speakers into the output. When I plugged the power supply in the lights lit up ok but the power button doesn't appear to be working. I put a record on the turntable and turned all controls to near maximum. Despite this and trying different combinations of line/phono, no lights came on on the vu meter and there was no sound from the speakers. Could it just (hopefully) be not enough power or would it be a problem at the input stage.

It doesn't look to have been abused, but I haven't had a look inside it yet.

Now I may be completely wrong here. but I used to use a PMX14 ( I think it was ) and it used a standard IEC 240v input, and would thus have had an internal transformer/power supply? Is there no IEC socket on the back?

It does have an external PSU.

"untested" usually means it doesn't work so I doubt if getting the correct PSU would make any difference. I notice that it says 15v AC which is unusual so a DC power supply probably wouldn't work.

Like I said it is lighting up with 12v DC. I knew there was a chance it wouldn't work, but sometimes you can get lucky. I remember a friend of mine buying an amp a few years ago for next to nothing and it only cost a few pounds to put right. I can't remember what the problem was but I think it was something fairly simple anyway.

Does anyone know where I could get a 15v power supply

Just thought of them. Just had the thing apart and there are no visible signs of any problems. Then again' if a component fails you wouldn't necessarily see anything.
