led parcans

I want to buy 8 or 12 led parcans but I need to know whether 64's are really better than 56's, they must run both dmx and standalone and work in master/slave mode when required. Which one's on the market do you suggest are the most reliable that still offer value for money.

Just a quick note before you go off searching threads, I have 4 par56's and they are great but I wish I had spent a bit more dosh and got the 64's, they are better - no question! "IMO obviously" :)

If cost is an issue though and given that you will have 8 or 12 of them 56's may suit. Depends on what you want to do with them.

i actually bought some LED par 64's in chrome yesterday for mood lighting, they look really good, if you are only going to use the par cans for on the rig and not mood lighting then the 56's are spot on for the job.

i would say the 64's are more for mood lighting and uplighting objects in my opinion.

Yeah think I'd agree with that, I use my 56's for mood ighting most of the time and wish they were 64's.

12 par56's as spots/floods onto the crowd or rig would be great, again......it's what you want to do with them! :)

These have a 3 year warrantee, I have the par56 version for about 8 months now with no reliability issues. :)

64s are better for uplighting as said above.
I think this is really due to have a higher output of light.

Ambience lighting looks really cool... but you want units which will be bright enough to light up the walls.... even in light conditions (eg. during the wedding dinner)

I think it would be nice to offer choices of colours.

To do a room fully I think you would need many units though.

Just going to get a good dmx desk to control them off now :D

I would be tempted to go for pc based Daslight.
You can set it up for colours then.
So have a scene called "red" ... click on it and all the pars go red. (funnily enough).
Would be easier than using something like the dmx master or other such "hard" controller IMHO.
