Lighting Bracket/Clamp

As i have mentioned in many other topics i have recently purchased an Acme ImpossiabLED lighting effect. I want to mount it ontop of my lighting bar in the centre where there are no predrilled holes for securing effects to. is there any clamps or brackets which allow the unit to be secured above the lighting bar as i can only find brackets that hold units below. any help?

Because the structural rigidity of the bar comes from the sides of the square, not the top and bottom. If you drill the sides however..............:eek: :eek:

Hi Spud

Yep ,drill a 9mm hole and pass an M8 bolt upwards through it. Tighten a nut on it above the bar leaving about an inch of thread sticking up. This can be left permanently fixed if desired.

When setting up slip one M8 repair washer over the bolt, followed by the Impossibled mounting bracket and another repair washer. Finally secure with an M8 wingnut.

This makes a very secure fixing as the Impossibled is quite lightweight anyway.


Alternatively, if you don't fancy drilling ,clamp a suitable 'U' bolt, (open side up) around the bar and use one of the projecting threads in the same way.

Excellent suggestion, with one rider. The mounting thus obtained will not be well fixed against rotation, as the bearing area on the nut is so small. If you can live with it being fixed straight along the bar, use two bolts.

And also the hole will be too small to make any difference anyway..;)

It does apear to fit the bill, although as Darren and I both pointed out, the word hang ( implying below) was used by other posters, which was contrary to the original poster's wishes.

I used to use the longer brackets on my Ultimax Dual Truss with a moonflower on the bottom and a LED Parcan on the top.

Sorry if i'm bein really blond but how does this work? i'm guessing the light unit goes on the bottom part (the end with one bolt) and the other around the light stand and the bolt on the side keeps it on the bar. would i be right in saying this? so what is the bottom bolt for (top in picture)

The bottom and top bolts are both for attaching lights to, you can use either, or both.

The thumbscrew is to tighten the clamp to the bar.

So im guessing this will go over the top of the bar to stop it falling down when being used to hanging items above the lighting bar:confused: ?

Except for those ones Ed linked to have an extra screw ontop to mount a light there instead of/aswell as the bottom (ignore my dual-bar as obviously you couldn't use these on that!)

Yes Danno you can, you need to buy the longer ones (175mm long I think) if you have a dual bar. I only have dual bar and they worked for me.
