Hi everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years. While our diaries start filling up for 2008 I am looking for ways of getting a few week-night gigs and thinking that company dos are most likely the target.

I have about a dozen weddings booked so far this year and a few private parties etc., in and around Lincolnshire.

Anyone go any advice as to how to pick up corporate events?

Cheers

Martin

There'sa good running article that's started in this months pro dj magazine (I think that's what the mags called - it's at home and I'm at work at the mo.) I think the yearly subscription is around £12.

<edit>

It's called Pro Mobile and you can find it here:-

I saw it - written by that American DJ/marketing chap I think. I did have a read of it and it is a good article.
Do agents have a use for getting corporate events though? I was thinking of maybe joining one or two.

Yes.....although I imagine you are unlikely to find an agent that would be happy to feed you just "weekday" work, as most decent agents will reward their most loyal DJs who work regular Fridays and Saturdays and throughout December for them, with any mid-week work that comes in, as there is significantly less work mid-week than there is at weekends.

Two way street etc.

agree with above posts so far,

my opinion..... look for a residency on the weekday nights, i.e. a quiz night or karaoke or whatever you can do, .

i fell lucky in that i found a pub that wanted a disco on a thursday night, and a play your cards right/disco on a sunday night, as the "pub gets busy anyway on a fri and sat" according to the owner. we worked out a deal...

This leaves my friday and Saturday nights free...perfect!!
