'Must see' films

Following on from the good response in the James Bond thread, maybe we can come up with some better suggestions (just in general, from the world of cinema)??

I would recommend the following, as films you really have to see...

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - you won't find a better array of acting skills in one film, this has to be the greatest film ever!
Goodfellas - forget Scarface, this is the mob/gangster film. Real, believeable characters, and a justifiable plot which doesn't cater for the 'happy ever after' audience.
Pulp Fiction - there is so much going on in here, so many big name performances, you need to watch it several times to appreciate it!
A Clockwork Orange - a very sinister feeling, with so many contrasting elements. It's as close as you can get to 'art' in a film, and there is something about it that makes you want to keep watching.
Shawshank Redemption - I can't think of a better example to show raw human emotion, and it has and ending to beat all endings!

Saving Private Ryan - yes a yank film ...but brings war home...

Bladerunner - in fact anything by Ridley Scott....Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down ....the guy's a legend....

Yes, I was going to mention that, Norton is one of the best young actors around. The ending is horrific, almost brought a tear to my eye. I struggle to watch the kerb scene too :eek:

Funniest film?

The one that makes me laugh most, even after seeing it a few times - See no Evil, Hear no Evil. You can't beat the scene where Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder meet at Wilder's confectionary booth.
