Holidays...

I know it's early but where is everyone going this year...not asking for dates or when your going......not that stupid!!:D

Just looking for somewhere to go this year or some ideas....

I fancy Italy, Spain, Scotland or Ireland.....but must be aimed at families....got to keep the kids entrtrained.........so working holiday.....:D

Ok im off camping at the end of Feb! (Silly Bugger :D)
Then im off to Cyprus then to Austria :D

Around the 16th July is the Eyemouth Herring Queen. A week of lots of activities. Sand Castle Competitions fireworks etc.

I would love to go to Majorca again, we love it there. But as it looks like hubby is going to have trouble getting time off work during the school holidays (which is also the most expensive time to go away) so it looks like we might be staying put this year.

I'm not really a holiday type person if I'm honest. I'd much rather be earning money than jetting off spending it...lol. Must be the Scotsman in me. :D

We've looked into a few destinations for this year - Fiji was an early choice, but Marc's been there and happened to mention the spiders the sizes of hands, that crawl on your bedroom wall at night. The wife changed the plans pretty quick after Marc's description :lol:. We've decided on the Maldive Islands (unless she gets to hear about spiders there too).

Apart from a few days in Disney Paris with the outlaws BUT NO KIDS :p

And the obligatory couple of weekends in Scotland; hoping this year to get out to St Kilda because it's always fascinated me. Will probably base on the outer hebrides somewhere.

Off to Corfu for a week in May, then having a 2 week cruise around the Ionion sea/Eastern Med in August (25th Wedding Treat).

We love the Greek Islands.

I only have a holiday once every 5-10 years!

This is partly because the low hours I work & lack of stress by not having a day job means I dont NEED holidays, partly because not working 6 nights a week would lose me a fortune, partly because when I DO go away I really miss my own bed, and also because it would be awkward finding cover for my 5 quiz nights a week.

I'm just as happy going down to the south coast for the day & laying on the beach (which I can do on any day I choose).

Having said that, I AM overdue for a holiday, as it's been nearly 8 years since I had one, so I'll probably sort something out in the next year or two.

I have a friend that's been there recently, he thought it was amazing! Apparently once you're there, everything is really inexpensive.

I'm off Skiing in a couple of weeks to Stowe, New England - USA.
Then in early summer i'm off to Lanzarotte with 'the lads' for 2 weeks.
Then I think in later summer we are off to the Amalfi Cost in italy again.
Then hopefully sometime after that I will be in Spain for over a year on a pilots course =)

Oh and I think we may be going to New York for my brithday in March.... although that may be meant as a suprise ;P

If you love beautiful coasts... perfect hot tanning weather and great atmosphere and culture you should go to Amalfi Coast in Italy (its gorg..) - and you can go get in your car and go ona day trip to Vesuvius if you wanted to walk up to the top of the cone.

Personally I think it works out cheaper often to book things seperately ie. flights and hotels.
if you working with a budget it could be an idea to look at alpharooms.com who have some fantastic hotels.... but it works out cheaper because instead of paying per person your paying per room. I will be using them for the 'lads' trip in the summer :-)

if you want something in the UK (as you said in your psot re: scotland) ... you could look at staying around Loch lomand if you want a peacful getaway.. very fun (again) for kids if you get the right spot (although I guess it depends how adventurous they are)...
Or you could try boating on the Caldon Canal or the Forth and Clyde canal...
Or infact try narrowboating anywhere in the UK.... it's great =)

If we do it will be Poole (went last year and liked it) or Isle of Wight (been there I think eight times). Probably know the island as much as Vectis :D

I do like Weymouth, plenty of fond memories. I remember when it had the pier. I thing I have been on holiday to Weymouth as many times as IOW, if not more.

That area means you can make trips out to all the other local seaside places, without much travel. Lyme Regis is nice to visit as well.
