Was booked for a 16th and 39 birthday party for last night. The 16 year old wanted dance and lost of RnB and the 39 year old wanted 60's 70's. I had well over 250 there with about 100 16 year olds dressed as gangsters and bunny girls.

All the girls turned up wearing allmost nothing and the boys looked great as gangsters. ( cant post pics as the ones i took for the family are showing what the girls was wearing and are not suitable for these forums)

i started with dance playing clubland hedkandi that kind of thing went down a storm dance floor rammed it was awesome. Had lots of request for Soulja Boy Tell`em Crank That. So i played it and i was gob smaked the dance these kids did was amazing i was loving every second of it.

i then slowed it down with some 80's 70's 60's which all the kids loved and the oldie's then went on to RnB for the last 45 mins i played all the fun ones YMCA Gap band then went in to the slow smootchie songs finishing with walk on.

it was one of my best nights playing to one of the bigest crouds every one loved it i was hugged and kissed at the end by so many a truley fantastic night.

its what i think makes this job so much fun to do i only started this in April last year so i am sure ill have my share of bad ones but the good ones like last night make it all worth it...awesome

Sounds like you have a great night :) Can I ask are you using the prolight trussing? Looks like the one I've got, out of interest have you tried placing lights on the top bar or the back? Was wondering how stable it would be? Oh yeh, my wiring is probably worse than yours, so looks pretty neat in comparison to what mine usually does :P

the class d's sound awesome i am using a kAM KXR1500 Power amp with a XYNEX 1222FX Mixer with a numark twin cd and ofcourse my laptop.

Just got to get used to the mixer and all its settings but the sound i had was superb only problem is moving the speakers.

So is there plenty of bass and High end on them?
Maybe a good investmant and wont have to use bass bins then too,
Nice and easy for teenage partys too, Dont fancy using turbosound @ an 18th

Looks like a very smart set up you have.
You may wish to build in some sort of protection for the laptop and mixers though. Keep them pesky fingers out and beer away!

steve as i am still new to being a mobile dj a lot of my equipment has been bought on advise of others and Garry from Class-D he was very good as the speaker's i was origanally going for were not quite up to the job so he advised me what was best and these speakers were cheeper than the ones i wanted in the first place so i was pleased that he was not just after my cash but instead gave me some sound advice as a result i will be using them again in the future.

once i have sussed out the settings on the mixer then ill tinker with the sound and a more experianced dj would get some awesome sounds from my gear. it just takes time to get used to but ill get there

You will never have a problem getting enough bass out of those Steve!;) :D
I have two models previous, and will use them as subs on occasion. I also have their "little" sisters, CD15SP, and when I went to hear them , they ran the 215's up side by side. No contest, but sadly ( or fortunately) they were not suitable for my needs! They have only one minor problem, which is generic to this type of speaker, in that if they are on the floor, the HF units are below head height, which is not good news, but on a stage, they are superb. In my opinion, they are not too bad to move, but a trolley helps enormously.

Daz, I also have the same amp, simply because it was easiest to buy one while I was getting the speakers. I was pleased to find it has twin fans, and seems to run well.

I might go for a same style speakers but a single 12 top and the 15" bass bins, i think that might sound nice, Does nicely for the pub jobs and the venues that aren't so nice or the kids partys where i don't want to take my turbosound stuff.

Well i can have ago at poling up the tops, by the way they are the tops what you have put the link to ;)

Are the crossovers in the subs any good then or is it better to have an active x-over with them?

Links changed, see edit. The x-overs in the subs are in my opinion acceptable, but active x-over and two amps is no comparison. I can say this, because one night with time to spare, I set up with built in x-overs, and thought I had wasted my money on an active one...................................
until I set the same gear up with it!;) :D :D

how would i use 2 amps together as i have seen many set ups in the photo section with 2 and allways wondered why. Also reading through these forums looking at lights and recomendations i just bought 2 ImpossibLED ACME ImpossiLED Effect the video's i saw on them looked great

There's loads posted on the forum about this, if you do a search...but basically...

1) 2 amps with an actibe crossover means each amp and the speakers attached is only serving a certain frequency range, so you'll get more out of them.

2) You have more control over the balance between bass and mid/top

3) You have a built in backup..if one amp blows up just run everything off the other.
