DJ Guard Claim

Hi All

I need to make a DJ Guard claim in the morning and I don't know if they will pay out.

I can't beleive this has happened, and I really don't know how it has happened. I loaded up the trailer after my gig on Saturday night and once loaded checked the doors were secure.

Somehow on my way home the lock on the doors has broke and the doors have flied open, causing me to loose my Mackies and a light effect, (luckaly an old Datamoon I don't use much). Everything else is wedged in tight so it does not move around much and stayed in place.

I did not see or hear the doors opening or hear anything falling out the trailer but did have some people flashing me but thought nothing of it. I reverse my trailer straight into the garage and did not notice the doors open when I unhitched. Only reason I've found out now is because I went to get my amp out because I've bought a new flight case for it.

Do you think DJ guard will pay out and class it as a loss of equipment?

Having claimed with them before and now also having to claim after my break in.You will be very lucky if they pay up as the items were not secured

Doesn't sound too hopeful, but be very careful how you word your claim, ie don't admit to anything like, I may not have locked it properly etc, just simply it broke & it's accidental loss.
Insurance companies are happy to pay out for a watertight case but otherwise they are as slippery as a barrel of eels.

Did you not have a padlock or lock of any kind on it?

I know that when I was with Musicguard a few years ago, I did have 'in transit' cover, but I think that was incase of accident, though I can't really remember.

Give them a ring and be careful about what you tell them.

I really hope they will pay out. I simply can't afford to replace my Mackies at the moment. I got a fantastic deal on them from Sound Control, £250 for a pair, but they are currently about £600 at Sound Control. If they dont pay out looks like it may well be a trip to Class D. I like the look of the CD12SP, does anybody use them and what do you think to them.

When i first saw mackies i thought of the SRM 450's first but i dont take it they are.

I had the lock that came with the trailer. It was the simple handle type that when turned pushes a thin bar through the roof and floor of the trailer. The handle then has a lock on it to stop it turning.

It was recently getting very tight so I sprayed it with WD40 which made it a lot easier. But the handle has now detached completly and is nowhere to be found.

Just about to fill out the claim form, so will word it very carefully.

What a bummer indeed, they were the C300z (passive version of SRM450).

I have music guard cover ( same company different name) Mine says the items are covered in transit. Are you sure someone didnt get in the unit when you stopped at lights or similar.

Only stopped at one set of lights, and then I was stopped for 15 seconds most so not enough time for anyone to get in nick two speakers and a light. Good thearoy though if I had been stopped longer.

I have the CD15SP's, which are the big, big sisters to the 12's. Even the 12's are big. the 15's are really big. I say this every time, but till you see them in the flesh you don't realise!:eek: I haven't heard the 12's but expect them to be simply the 15's with a bit less bass. The 15's are excellent.

Yeah, I'm going to retrace my steps tomorrow. I have also called the venue I was working at to see if they have found anything. One of the security guys found one of my speakers on the main road and has it in the office, so going back to claim that tomorrow. But if I dont find the other one I don't have much hope, what with the rain we have had, it would be knackerd.

So either the handle was removed and your stuff was nicked or it fell off which would surely make it accidental.

Hey Sam why dont you get back to the venue and ask them to search their CCTV system (If they have 1?) for any suspicious goings on?

Oh dear, sorry to hear about this incident (just read the thread now). I agree with what has been said - the first letter can make the difference between receiving any kind of payout, or nothing. It does seem like you should prepare yourself for the latter though, most insurance companies will do everything to avoid a payout.

why not ask the fella where he found the speaker and then have an ask around and maybe offer £100 for the return of the cab? you may be lucky better to lose £100 than but another cab!
