Attempting a bit of DIY, couldn't be bothered getting my bench out of the shed - see if you can guess what happened?

Suffice it to say, I'm now enjoying some (not so cold, unfortunately) lager, so as not to put it to waste :D

The moral of the story is - don't take on a job without the proper equipment.

Haha, yeah, DIY disasters are always good for a laugh in hindsight! Not at the time, mind you, I can curse with the best of them! :bang:

I nearly had a gas pipe a few months ago... I was replacing some floorboards, and had the screw points marked out, only I got one badly wrong

I couldn't understand why this one screw was resisting so much, and I was getting a bit annoyed at this point anyway, as I had better things to do. So I pulled the board up, and got a bit of a fright when I saw the pipe with a small pointed dent in it

Thank the lord they didn't skimp on materials, and it is a good solid pipe :)

I recall a girl I worked with was late in one morning and when asked why explained that she had been hammering in a nail and hit a water pipe, the water had come out of the hole with such force that it had sent the nail flying across the room...

...into a power point that had accidentally been left on... shorted out the whole house.

An older guy a few cubicles over heard the story and commented, not so quietly "Girls can do anything!" (which was also an ad campaign at the time). :D

I drilled a hole directly up from a double electric point in the kitchen......... .....and the force threw the drill and me across the other side of the room.......enough to make me wake up.....never again.....
