After much soul searching ive decided to quit after next weekends jobs. Its been a blast but I just cant seem to get motivated any more. Anyone in the Hull area who wants some work, drop me a pm.

very sad to see you go chap ....... sure a break isn't just whats needed ..... i've not been able to do a great deal over the past 4 months , but that has really reignited a spark to get out and entertain again...... as both previous posters have said what ever you do keep your music collection.

I have discussed with several people when they think I should retire, and they all said the same thing "When you don't enjoy it anymore"...so you're stopping at the right time.

Don't mean to seem cruel but less competition for me :p

If I were you I'd certainly keep the gear for a while incase you change your mind. :doh:

good luck in the future,don't be too hasty to sell everything unless you really need the cash.i know a few dj's who sold up only to realise they packed up too soon and had to buy all new gear to start up again.

Don't be too hasty to sell the kit off just yet, I myself have retired twice officially, and missed my intended cast in stone retirement date by three years in July! A lot of the time, I am enjoying it as much as ever, but yes there are times when it's not all a bed of roses. According to another thread, you are just approaching the best age for a DJ aren't you?

sad to hear your quitting.......don't sell your gear straight away you might regret it....a mate of mine quit and sold his karaoke rig, 2 years on he has just spent a fortune setting up again coz he missed it....

doesnt feel like the best age !!! the gear never seems to get any lighter !

and as for less competition for mr jaydee drinker, i know of at least 3 new startups in the area this year so you wont notice the difference and i may yet sell my trading name / phone number

Ah, but nowadays apparently, you don't need to bring your CD's with you.:eek: In my case, that would save three trips, and half a ton!

If you sell your name and number to JD, you'll both be happy.:D

Sorry to hear about you quitting simon, Have you not thought that January being a quite month puts us on abit of a downer with the lack of work around?
Why not wait until you see what the next few months have in store for you?

You could find that you are getting alot of work and some big jobs, Just stick at it as there is bound to be one night that will get the adrenaline flowing again.

ive done the bar and club circuit for over 6 years only came back to mobile work 2 years ago. Im not saying i dont like it anymore, just that i dont enjoy it or get the same buzz from it as i used to.

and for averyone who keeps asking, the gear will all be going on djbids as soon as ive done my last job, with the exception of the cds for reasons posted in another thread.

Well sorry to hear your going , but as the others said . If you dont enjoy it any more. Wasnt it Confucious who said if you enjoy your job, you will never work again.
But when you dont it's like pushing a boulder uphill and getting charged for the pleasure. (not his mine actually).
I spent some time thinking of quiting in the past , normally after the usual abusive punter or bad thing happening. But the fact is I still enjoy it and want to continue. Maybe you'll come back to it in the future like I did or maybe you will choose another direction. I wish you luck whatever you choose but keep the good memories.

It's just that there are occasions where using a smiley on it's own is enough to say what I want to say or give the reaction I want to give, so it's not necessary to also add text.

If you look through the posts on this forum, you will see plenty of occasions where other regular contributors do the same.
