Beadle. Life dealt him a cr@p hand, really :o
It's very sad...especially as he died so young.
I was a big fan ever since I first heard him...on a late night phone-in on LBC way back in the late 1970's, if I remember rightly.
He even played pranks back then.
I remember one occasion when he was "doing his show from a van which was being driven around London"
One observant listener noticed that on the two occasions when an ambulance went past, they both sounded exactly the same...and deduced that it was actually just a sound effect, and Jeremy was really in his studio at LBC as normal!
In the 1980's, his "Beadles about" shows included some absolute classics, such as the alien in the woman's garden, and her asking him if he'd like a cup of tea!
Rest in peace, Jeremy.

It's a real shame, he was such a great personality. It's true, what vectisvibe said, he put so much into the world and got next to nothing back.

I think you might have mis-understood what vectis said.

I too used to listen to him on LBC in the 70s when I lived in London , very clever guy , much under rated.

Well I didn't get the joke, but I couldn't imagine I'd laugh if i did (I'm not disapproving or anything, I make as many tasteless jokes as the next - I just personally feel sorry for the guy)

Were you unaware of his hand situation then?

I was aware that he had a cancerous kidney removed, that he had leukemia, and that he died of pneumonia, and I did know there were other issues, but I wasn't aware of exactly what.

It's amazing how soon the jokes start.
Last night, I had a quiz team called "Beadle's not about"
and tonight there was a team called "Bury me Beadle"
