Genuine seller or con man?!
Q: Hi. First things first, I want you to post this question so other eBayers can see my questions okay? A couple of questions: 1. Is this HD2500 imported or is it manufactured in the UK? 2. Do you have the serial numbers for all 3 units? Thank you in advance, dont forget to post my questions and your answers in your advert. Neil. 02-Feb-08
A: A person who is asking if it is made in UK is either an idiot or living in altogether different world. Nothing is made in UK my friend. There is no such thing called 'MADE IN UK DENON'. Denon can't afford to pay 6 pounds an hour to their workers. These are made in Malaysia/Japan/China and exported to UK. They are NOT made in UK. Before I answer your question about serial #'s, read my 1700+ feedback & especially find and read the feedback of the people who bought denon units including HD-2500. Let me know how many of those people complained about not having a serial #. Once you have done that, I will answer you if my units have serial #'s or not. Sorry, I am not offended or anything, but it :approve: me off when people speculate things without using their head. What you think, if I am selling units with the serial # I would have 99.99% 1700+ feedback ? Tell me honestly ? And yes your question is posted so that ALL the buyers can see it. I REALLY DO WANT EVERY ONE TO READ YOUR QUESTION.

There have been claims that there is fake Denon media players in circulations. When I phoned around for my 2500, none of the high streets could match this eBay Power Sellers price and they claimed that it's probably a fake or imported Denon and that you might have to change things on the unit e.g the power supply unit.

I have a couple of trade accounts.
What was the price and I'll tell you if he could sell at that and make a profit if he got the units at trade in this country.

Not fake, but the audio equivalent of "Grey import" cars of motorcycles.

He still hasn't given a straight answer to the "serial number" question, it just seems like he's dancing around the issue. Hmmmm...alarm bells are ringing!
I've heard to many horror stories about the HD2500's being sold on ebay. My advice would be "AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE".
Mendoza
The price you have quoted is slightly below UK trade price including settlement and including VAT for a single unit, however this price reduces if buying multiple units from a distributor (and the seller has indicated there are 3 available)
However, if this is legitimate, what is strange is he is making very little money, and that is before allowing for any ebay costs

Yeah does sound a dodgy dealer. A high street retailer quoted me that he purchased off an eBayer and when he received his Denons, all the serial numbers were rubbed off - very odd
If the eBay Power Seller has nothing to hide, why wont he disclose the serial numbers of his 3 units? Its not as if someone is going to nick them!
Something smells funny about this seller mmmm
If this is a genuine seller, would he make a big profit?

I wouldn't publish the serial numbers either, they are needed to be able to upgrade the firmware, and as I understand it they only work once for each download. If he published the serial number, some other person could use it to receive the downloads for their non-EU version of the product.

He might buy them on grey import and might get them at a better price than the distributor - possibly/maybe?

Agree with Wensleydale on that point....but then if you want to buy something....why make an issue out of it....
Lot of money to splash out....and i think Mendoza is asking a very valid point here......
The buyer dont need to go off on one......
If it were me i would tell the seller to go stick it where the sun don't shine.. ..see if he post's that......:D
I have a couple of trade accounts.
I maybe asking another question soon....

If anybody is worried about authenticity of Denon gear and are able to get to North London on Sunday 17th Feb, Denon DJ will be at the meet up with lots of goodies to test out. Come along and ask Gary about authorised dealers.

On a slightly different if not same ish line.
I bought a Phatnoise hard drive system for my Audi off ebay funnily enough with that same phone number but not that id. When it arrived I had to pay customs fees of about 80 quid to get it form the depot, it was still cheaper than UK listings..........
But it just goes to prove trust nothing from Milton Keynes, I should have learnt that when they stole my football team!

I dont trust Universal Electronics full stop. When I was searching for the best price for my Denon, NOBODY couldn't match 519. I paid 600 for mine in the end which is a fair price considering dealers are charging in the region of 700 pound

Lets not upset people now Excalibur. People need to develop sense of humours on here after all I do, quite offten, try to have a laugh on here but it's as if people really dont want to know

I think plenty of people have a sense of humour on here - it's just that sometimes if language or typing is not great, then it's difficult to understand what some people are trying to say.

No-one is having a go at you.
I didn't know what you were on about - read this thread again. I still can't make head or tail of your comments and I've said so. Where are people 'having a go' at you? Who is fighting and who is taking you too seriously?
I think you need to read the thread again, understand what is going on and chill my man. :)
