Isn't it strange the things manufacturers put on labels.
A few I find interesting.
On a bag of crisps -- You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(the shoplifter special?)
On a bar of soap -- "Directions: Use like regular soap."
(and that would be how???....)
On some frozen dinners -- "Serving suggestion: Defrost."
(but, it's "just" a suggestion).
On Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- "Do not turn upside down."
(well...duh, a bit late, huh!)
On packaging for an iron -- "Do not iron clothes on body."
(but wouldn't this save me more time)?
On Children’s Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication."
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)
On Sleep Aid -- "Warning: May cause drowsiness."
(and...I'm taking this because???....)
On a box of Christmas lights -- "For indoor or outdoor use only."
(as opposed to...what)?
We must be a stupid lot to need these instructions.
Nanny, what shall I do now?

I like the message of bags of nuts which says "Warning - contains nuts"
My other fave is the tin of soup which has a "serving suggestion" on the front.....
.....a picture of the soup in a bowl!

Apart from peanuts because they aren't.
Funnily enough, Steve, the message DOES appear on bags of peanuts!

digressing slightly, some strange road signs spotted recently:
On the A27 dual carriageway (South Coast trunk road, near Chichester)
"NO RACING BY HORSE DRAWN VEHICLES"
and in the current M4 J11-12 roadworks:
"Communications Up Grades"
(I'm sure they do in some subjects, English language not being one of them)

I think Rob, Steve is trying to draw your attention to the fact that he claims the Peanut is a vegetable, or mammal, or something, rather than a nut. ;)

I know that, Excalibur.
I'm also aware that the peanut is not a nut, which is why I said FUNNILY ENOUGH the message does appear on bags of peanuts.

Yes my friend, but apparently the logic is that the bag may have been fillrd in a factory which handles other nuts, which are proud to be qualified to bear the legend " Nut " . In this respect the label actually makes sense. :p

But then again, the majority of people who say they have a nut allergy are allergic to peanuts.
It's a funny old world.

Very true - in fact I'm not sure that a peanut allergy extends to Brasils, Macadamias and the like.

I think someone posted these before, and yes some of them are required because some people are stupid enough to need these warnings!
There have been a few famous lawsuits (mainly in the US - where else?) which have come around because an individual is so stupid, but feel they have to blame someone else.

Like the 'Contents may be hot' warning on McDs coffee (though I'd have to say that in their case the "may be" is truer than the "hot" :D ).

Agreed, but they're fantastic if you want to take off the roof of your mouth!
