cd listing software

i used a cd library program a while ago which looked up cds on cddb and then allows you to export to excel, but you had to pay for the full version.

anyone know of a program that allows you to do it that you can get for free?

Hya wensleydale I dont know of any free software but what was the paid software you used sounds interesting?

mediamonkey is free and will export tracknames/playlists to excel. I didn't know it did this until I read your post, but I have media monkey on my machine as a track finder because it will "remember" every CD it has ever seen, regardless of whether the file is on the PC or not. Great for finding album name for a particular track. Anyway, I had a thought that it might export - it does- I've just tried it - and its free

One version of Visitracks is free, but i don't know if there is a limit to how many tracks.

I thinks its only £20 ish though.

I use a programme called Listmaker.
very simple little programme (type listmaker into google it will be near the top).
You just select all the music files and it puts them into a simple word programme.

Have to say, having found this feature in media monkey it is very handy. It doesn't just extract the file names, but puts all the tags in different columns in excel. It will put in excel whatever is in the main window - library, playlists, individual CD. Thanks wensleydale!

music label is what i used in the past- very handy as i exported to excel and then to a pda and used as a catalogue if i ever could not find anything when out.

there is a free trial of the 2008 version which i will give a go, but i will have a look at media monkey too.

I use CD Trustee which is about £15-£20. Does just what you said you wanted.

i knows it's a long way of doing it but, type out all the track lists into a excel file and then convert it into pdf and then use adobes search function to search for track title,track artist etc etc it seems to work fine for me, but it's very time consuming but you just have to keep updating when you get new cd's

i use print 2 pdf which gives you a simple but effective grid page with titles,artists,track number,disc number
