Which is to find that all products on t'interweb are fully compatible, really cheap, and reliable.:bang:

OK rant over, my problem is someone sent me an Adobe.pdf document to sign, scan and e-mailback. I have to use Corel software for this, as I only have Adobe reader, and thus can't create Adobe documents, which appear to be an industry standard. So having looked for the requisite software I find the price is over £200.:eek: :eek: :eek:

Is there any other software for scanning and sending documents by e-mail which is :
1) Easy to use
2) Uses files which are a nice size for e-mail
3) Compatible with most peoples systems
4) Cheap.


Not asking for much, am I ? ;) :(

I usually print it out, sign it then scan it back in and convert back to pdf with CutePDF (google for it!)

take a photo with a digital camera and send- mine even has a "document" setting.

It's freewere and is free for personal and commericial use.

Download the two downloads and the left hand and side and install both. Once installed you will notice you have an addtional printer installed called something like PDF Writer. When you have a dicument you want to convert open it and go to print it in the usual way. When you have the option to select the printer change it to PDF Writer. Click OK or Print and you will then be prompted for a file name and location where you would like to save the file. Easy.

Or, if you have a scanner check what softwere you have with that as some come with softwere which will scan documents straight to PDF.

MS Office 2007 has PDF support built in (well for output anyway).

You can now get a "Home and Student edition" which you can legally install onto 3 computers for about £85.

I think you may find a problem ticking all four boxes there. :(

We used to have the very same problem, until buying a Konica Minolta Bizhub early last year, which I must say, is the dog's dangly bits :cool:

A user can walk up and simply press "scan", then select their preset name button on the touch screen, and within seconds it will autofeed & scan multi-page documents into a single pdf. The Konica has an inbuilt SMTP engine, and emails the pdf to the Exchange client - so quickly that by the time you've walked back to your desk, a 3-page PDF is in your Outlook In-box ready to save or email onwards.

The only downside to this beauty is the £6,000+ price tag :eek: although it is also an extremely fast colour A3/A4 duplex printer/copier and can be configured as a fax machine, although we keep that bit separate with a dedicated fax machine.

I shall now approach Konica and request commission for plugging their products :D

Tony, I have to question your maths skills. I tell you a programme is too dear at £200 and you suggest that the answer to my problem is available at only £6,000! :eek: :eek: :eek:

It was not intended as a recommendation for your application, I was merely pointing out that I think you would struggle to tick all four boxes from your list, we did look around for various options.

I guess there are plenty of solutions cheaper than £6,000, however the Konica was an ideal solution for our business and I would recommend it in a multi-user environment

Do you know if the same is true for Small Business edition? I've just bought this for £150 as i needed Outlook as well, but obviously would be good if I could share the cost between others who want it!
