Acme LED - not too impressed!

Hi went down PSL today and had a look at the Acme super nova and impossibled. It was light but i was not too impressed by them. Does anyone know of an alternative to these as a room filler?

For the price paid I would say the impossibled is ok although I wouldnt think your going to fill a venue with one effect anyway.

Used my new one Saturday with other effects and it was a useful addition.

Have you heard of the Vue™ VI by Chauvet? I haven't used one personally, but, from the looks of things they are far more impressive than what an impossibled is. Its ideal as a centre piece, or to fill the room with a large amount of colour, only thing is, not sure if its out in the UK yet.

I use 2 of the impossibled's connected master and slave and they look pretty good. However they do not replace other effects simple augment them. I still take other effects with them as they are a little underwhelming on their own. But used with other effects I find them very good. For example I use either 4 led pars with a dmx controller or a couple of dynarocks with a couple of dynamos or moon flowers.
I still find the most poular effect i use is still 2 xtc's , bright, a room filler and not too dazzling. Not the most interesting effect but clients seem to love it and its cheap to buy and maintain.

I purchased another Led Boogie at the weekend and also a MarveLED and with the Dynarocks they looked pretty good. However, my haze machine ran out of fluid and I didn't have any spare and they didn't create the same effect or look half as good. They definitely work well with haze in my view.

I had something like that a few years back, I've actually still got it. A Martin Magic Moon. Once again, it looks a 100 times better with haze and isn't much on it's own.

It looks good from behind the decks looking out like most of the lights but from a punters view, it looks like coloured squares changing. I've noticed that punters really like the visual thing a lot lately and yes, with the haze it's pretty impressive as all of the beams show clearly...but the LED's do it much better I think.

I must say at first i did'nt like the ImpossiabLED but after i seen it a few times i came round to getting one and have'nt looked back since. a great bright centre piece with many pretty colours.:D

It seems that most people on this forum either have or are looking at getting the Impossibled-am I not correct?
I was looking at getting 2 myself.Surely most people on here are satisfied with their purchase of 1 or 2 of these lights?

I've got two and have used them linked, but also have used one in a very small venue with a couple of led pars.

Generally speaking I don't particularly like LED lights. I much prefer a nice unit with lots of nice gobos. However, I'm fairly happy with my impossiLED's purchases.

And I tend to use it in conjunction with other lighting during "disco" music as I feel it gives the floor a kind of 70s 'lit dancefloor' effect.

I don't have an ImpossibLED but I do have 2 x LittLED's, 2 x LED Boogies and 1 x MarvelLED and that looks pretty good.

I've just taken delivery of 2 impossibled's ( thanks to DJ Kit ) with there first outing tomorrow night... I also have the super novas which are great when projected on to either the walls or ceiling. Will see how they look tomorrow.

Took one of the imposibLED's out the flightcase today and noticed the lens had popped in. I would be more impressed if the lens was screwed in place rather than held in place with cheap thin folded pieces of metal. Still, I suppose I can't complain when the lights cost so little in the first place.

there's a few thrreads about that on here somewhere. I bought a couple of 12" record boxes (flightcase type) from Ebay. They were £20 + postage and are padded too.

This is the same company (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silver-Aluminium-100-x-12-LP-Case-FREE-DELIVERY_W0QQitemZ300188821963QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6 9961QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem), but I'm pretty sure it is a 75 case rather than a 100. Email and ask them if they do 75s.
