dear members
i would value any feedback on the following subject.

I've been a member for a few months now, but haven't had a sniff of any bookings from m.d.d. am i the only one. I do have p.a.t. & p.l.i. ( still waiting to be validated ), but unfortunately no website as yet. I've got 15 yrs exp in this business, but finding it hard to get back in after 20 yrs absence. I done a new years gig last month, with great positive feedback , but so far no bookings from any source. any other member in the same boat. i await your reply.

Because approximately 80% of new business comes from my website, i'd say it's time you got one sorted. Let people know why you are better than the average.

Although not a huge amount of enquiries from here, but I do get a handful of visits to my site from this directory per day, and you can only hope that a percentage of these will turn into enquiries.

Id recommend getting a website also , particularly if most of your advertising is web based. I have very few enquiries from mdd but I know others have a fair few so it does work for some.

it will be hard to get back after 20 years as there is probably twice as many discos around to share the work. I now in Derbyshire we seem to be getting one new disco a week pop up lol.

and if Rolls Royce lay off as many workers as is expected then many more will probably pop up before the end of the year.

I'm having the worst Jan , Feb , March since i started after which it improves through to August, but then I may not be working at all after this for the rest of the year and beyond.

Strange that, i've had the best Jan since the company started, about 8 years ago.

I've got nothing for Valentines weekend either.

Slightly worrying as I won't have the excuse that I'm working and may have to take the wife out. :D

I agree, although in my case it's more like 90% of new business that comes from my website.

That's weird.

I have just as many bookings in the diary as I had this time last year and this time 2 years ago, with enquiries coming in virtualy daily. 3 bookings in the diary for March, which is unheard of for me.

I get a few enquiries through MDD.
But only because they have go onto my website after looking at my listing.

Get yourself a site. It is where all my bookings come from..

If you have a website and have it set up properly you'll find that a lot of your hits DO actually come from MDD.The way MDD is set up you may not actually know that a lead has come from here but I certainly notice that people are coming to my site from the MDD butyou have to analyze your hits on your website

February is my slowest month which is why I always go away on holiday--to somewhere hot and sunny.

As it happens I was offered a brilliant booking on the 16th Feb--they then changed the date to when I am on holiday so I had to pass it on to Paul@Spirits high

About 90% of my business comes from people who has seen or booked me in the past and this january has been the busiest so far for me.
i would recommend getting a website even if its just a really simple one

I agree with the comments about getting a website. In this day and age it's an absolute must!

I am yet to receive an enquiry via MDD. I get quite a few via UK Discos but mainly through my website and Yellow Pages.
January for me was good. I looked at what I was like last January and this year I doubled what I did. February is busy too although I have this saturday off which is the only one. March is by far the busiest month of the year so far with midweek bookings aswell as multiples at the weekends.

My quietest month so far (excluding Oct, Nov & Dec) is April.

Pretty much the same with us.

I have to say though, looking through the directory at the state of some of the listings on there (not singling anyone out, or criticizing anyone's listing), it's no wonder that some folks don't get any bookings from their listing. Spelling & grammar goes a long way & a good proofreader is worth their weight in gold.

I've had a few as this site comes up when they do a google search for disco beverley.
Most come from UK-disco though, not always easy to turn into bookings as they usually put the ad for everyone in their region to see. Key here is to get in quick with a reasonable quote (their mobile text feature is invaluable for this)

But I echo others views on here, get a website (I use yourinternetstore), good value for money IMO and never yet had a server go down (that I am aware of). I bought a second hand version of Front Page off ebay and find this fairly easy to use and even easier to update.
