Hey! I'm on a boat!!

Treated myself to one of those USB 3G modem thingies from '3' for £10 per month for 1GB data transfer because I waste about 3 or 4 hours a week either waiting for or sitting on boats with no internet access.

I'm really surprised how fast it is... I'm pulling about 1.5MBit/s which is faster than my broadband at home :eek:

So expect lots more drivel... :p

Apart from a quick test when I got the thing a few days ago, I was online for about 90 minutes last night checking/sending email, browsing and posting to this forum plus a few other websites, ftp'd a couple of pages to my website, and used 6MB. So I've got 954MB left for the rest of the month!

I feel you may have misunderstood. Surely you need a laptop or similar costly item to access t'interweb? :confused: :confused:

So is my house, but it'll drop back to GPRS and even GSM if necessary, automatically. Depends where you're going to get the most usage. For me, it's travelling to/from the mainland and the Solent is very red. Also downloading the odd request when gigging and there's no WIFI coverage.

You mean you've got fed up watching that lovely view as you face the IOW on the ferry and would rather be inside and not being windswept and interesting on the top deck :D

Or is that just for the Grockles (Sp?) as we are known in the South/South East ;)

Never tire of the view... that's one of the reasons I live there :)

Unfortunately most of my travelling happens in the hours of darkness so not much to look at.

And everyone's either a grockle, overner or caulkhead not just southerners!
