Under a year and not my fault.....:)

O.K.
Some nice person threw a (full) glass of white / red wine over one of my speakers last night......
They no longer work on one side....bass works O.K. but the nice top bit's are null and void on one side.....
I've had the one on the radiator all day.....still no avail...

I spoke to the guy and told him what had happen....he's not to impressed....

I just want to know how much.......judging by Callum not a lot.......:)

Yep one of ours just stopped or no reason after 3 gigs (Robbie was the last to use it so I blame him) Admittedly still under waranty & not soggy like yours, but we had a free replacement within a couple of days.

I blew a mid driver. Was given one replacement and one spare FOC. That's the sort of repair costs I can live with. Ring 'em Tone, piezos cost naff all, even if you have to pay it might be a fiver! :eek:

Very helpful at Class-D. I had four bolts/nuts shake loose in the speakon sockets and a quick email later they dropped me some in the post.

As mentioned, they are cheap anyway so even if you have to pay for them it could of been worse with say a Mackie etc.

I think the confusion is arising because:
1) We are quite rightly pointing out the low cost of replacing broken parts, and people are equating low cost with cheap and nasty.

2) Some other people are injecting humorous jibes into this thread which are not being taken with a big enough pinch of salt. We know they are intended humorously, bit other folk may miss these subtle nuances.

3) There is now a new range with compression drivers instead of Piezos, which has brought the prices of those ones up to a much less wallet friendly level than previously.

Leigh- as many of us on here alays say, go to see Class-D if at all possible. They will demonstrate any combination of their gear you wish to hear. ( and often can't be dissuaded from demoing £2,500 worth of system which you have no intention of buying,, but stand there with your flares flapping in the breeze! :eek: :D :D )

I would also get an active crosover, and two amps, for reasons I have gone into many times. ( I would also make a mod to the top hat mounts on the subs, especially if you got the 15" tops. It would take an hour of time, and cost about £5 at most )

Ring them up, tell them what you want, and if at all possible go see them. You cannot beat hearing any system to see if it's what you require, and are happy with.

No Dave, you either love them or hate them.

I remember a thread I started last year asking for advice on which speakers to replace my Warriors with.

A few people recommended Class D, but I also had a few PMs from people strongly advising AGAINST them.

I've never had that before.

As I said, it seems that people either love them or hate them.

I've just spent 2k on a new PA, so whether I love them or hate them is irrelevant as I won't be replacing my current kit with them. ;)

Being a "Good" DJ is the sum of many, many parts, and it is in no way necessary to use a sound system which is perceived to be the ultimate in Audio Quality. If it sounds good enough ( and that's not a way of saying the lowest acceptable quality ) then it is good enough.

True the pendulum swings both ways I'm sure, theres plenty wannabe DJs out there with more money than sense.
some of us are PA audiophiles though and I know I did not buy my stuff in one visit to the disco shop but spent quite a few years of trial and error (and hard earned cash) to get the sound I wanted weighted against what I could carry up stairs:o (had the huge PA and sore back) For me it has to sound right too, some may call it fussy but it's more of a curse since it costs a lot more:D
I think the reason I liked ABBA (took 20 years to admit this:) ) was for their production techniques and melodies. Then theres Led Zeplin who saw this and often recorded at the ABBA studios. With Piezo it's just an audio quality isue,
Piezo is good 50% of the time the other 50% is like fingernails down a blackboard to me.:eek:

I have an idea. I dont know if anybody will agree with me on this but here we go. I am intrested in the class-d speaker but i have never heard them before. Another thing is that people think you have to spend hundreds/thousands on speakers.

My idea was to hold a showdown. This does not mean a competition by any means but where people can turn up to show there speakers off. And i didnt intend this to be a "who's got the loudest", who cares really, i dont. Its about quality and what sounds nice to the ear.

It's not a competition - you use the same mixer and amp combination with flat eq.

It's a way of hearing lots of different cabs in one place and socialising at the same time.

As MDD has members from all over uk i think it would be best suited if the location was central in the uk. Now i know some members might have to travel far and some other members might only have to travel an hour for example but what else can be done.

I know there are member from around the world but i dont think they would be able to take part in this experiment.

My idea was to hold a showdown. This does not mean a competition by any means but where people can turn up to show there speakers off. And i didnt intend this to be a "who's got the loudest", who cares really, i dont. Its about quality and what sounds nice to the ear.

This is what i have come up with so far,

Steve = Class-D
Darren + Twinspin = RCF
Ron = Mackie or W Audio
VV = Peavey
Myself = Studiospares Fortissimo
DJ Steve = Turbosund
Jamie = Void Audio


Thats just a few to get started with.

Hya fellas It sounds like for the actual money being asked for class-d gear the actual sound quality is good again for the price and they do look good.
The only real concern I have rightly or wrongly is the actual life span.
Has anybody had them for a decent amount of time and gigged regular with them?
I think its spoken for itself with the good feedback on this long thread that for the money your gonna get class-d for your gonna get quite a good sounding system for a very respectable price I think that's been proven now, so to me its just a case of now knowing if they can last the test of regular high powered gigging.

just wondering you use the fortissimo do you use the 600w powered sub because i was looking at 1 on there website and looks simlar to my gamma sub

I also use the Studiospares Fortissimo subs and tops (active) really happy bunny here, i love the stuff
