The jingles & the guy on the mic sound great too.

I just have one comment. When the guy talks, the music cuts off completely, rather than just reducing in volume so you can still hear it under him.

I've sometimes heard DJs on pirate radio stations do the same, and it sounds naff in my opinion.

I just have one comment. When the guy talks, the music cuts off completely, rather than just reducing in volume so you can still hear it under him.

How come he sold it? surely its a big money maker.

:) If the cd you have bought is from ebay seller 'icepinkandblue' then you will most definatly recieve your item! I am very interested in those jingles and i gave him a long list of what i have heard and he happily came back to me with what he has got.
The ride i think is now owned by alex crow who's ride is featured in that video, the shapeshifters song was some time ago.

There are only two of those rides in this country, so rare to see and that's why you thought it was the same one.

The one you've been on is the one that goes to 'Gods Kitchen' each year.

The ride on this video is indeed Alex Crow's who bought it off of Harry Ayers who owned it at the time of the Shapeshifters video. (Useless information now over!) Actually, the ride is a bit of a monster to get about and I think Harry struggled keeping staff to get it about.

You are completly correct there as the one i rode was "Space Roller" who is currently owned by James Mellor. Well spotted there, i didn't notice:o. Same ride, different name:)

I understand what your saying as when i was riding another ride at thunderworld about 2 years ago and the restraints came away mid ride:eek:.
Was just left to hang on tight and wait for the ride to end.

Marc J you are getting close to the mark there. I was born into the fairground fraternity and know the realities of the lifestyle and can only say that you show a complete ignorence about the aspects of a fairground.

You may be unaware that there are rigorous health & safety rules that need to be adhered to and all equipment undergoes safety testing annually as well as at various places throughout the year.

Yes there will be accidents - I myself had one in the 80s when a passenger in the ride I owned nearly lost a leg becouse he decided to climb out of the safety restraint and stand up while the ride was in motion. Guess what - local paper made a big play of fairground accident, but made no mention of the passengers part in the accident.

Also before I take this personally (and I am very close) - pikeys/gypsies are nothing to do with the fairground fraternity. Fairground people (and I'm not talking about the staff) are business people, the same as you and I, and deserve more respect as they work for harder than we do and get treated by uneducated people as though thay are trash, which isn't true.

I promise you that you if you actually knew any of them, you would find them to be hard-working, business minded people, paying taxes and moving on for the most part. Sure there may be a few who aren't, but isn't that the same anywhere - look at us when we talk about cowboys who do this as a sideline, don't carry insurance, and don't pay tax on the work they do.

I would suggest you think before you speak - because come to think of it, I am offended when people class fairground family as pikeys/gypsies - because at the end of the day that's where my bloodline is!

Oh yeah, and the ride in question - you couldn't buy one for less that £300,000 - I'm not sure there are too many of us who could afford to invest that sort of money in our businesses.

OK, I should have left the pikeys / gypsies comment out, it was only added for comic effect and in bad taste. From your previous posts it was obviously going to get your back up and so I apologise.

As you say, it's a common mistake to "class fairground family as pikeys/gypsies" and that's kinda the point I was making, too, albeit badly.

I still wouldn't go on one, though ;)

That's not to say accidents don't happen on static rides, but (like mobile ones) most of these are down to visitors more than the ride - people wandering where they shouldn't, throwing things from rides, going on rides they aren't fit for etc. etc...

Regarding travelling fairgrounds. I'm like Marc, I won't go on any ride that's assembled in a day. They may be as safely erected as the static rides such as Alton Towers etc but I still can't help feeling that there's more chances of corners being cut when they are up against time restraints to get everything assembled for a pre-set opening time. Call me cynical, but it just doesn't fill me with confidence. I may be accused of "ignorance about the aspects of a fairground", but it's just a personal opinion.

That is down to personal preference, but also you could look at it this way, the ride gets a more thorough inspection as it is checked and handled more often.

My problem wasn't with people opinion's on the rides, more on the mention of fairground families percieved character. That has abeen apologised for so I'm happy.

And to be honest, accidents do happen on fairground rides, and sometimes it will be down to operator error, but it is far more rare than you think.

But I more than understand your concerns, and as you are aware I do have a more of an insider's view than most on this forum.

I don't really go on ANY rides...regardless of whether they're on temporary OR permanent sites.

The reason is nothing to do with safety though.....


































.....it's because they make me feel sick, which is NOT my idea of fun!
