So, morbid topic but I'm a realist. And this is probably aimed more at the solo operators. I expect some might not care about the 'what if' because you wouldn't be there, but...

What if you were to suddenly get the call from the grim reaper?

Would your better half or business partner or family know who to contact to let them know you won't be doing their wedding bash this coming Saturday?

Would they know who to contact for the Saturday after... and the ones after that ad infinitum?

Would they have access to funds to repay deposits held?

Would they be able to finalise accounts to the taxman's satisfaction? Or know how to get the website taken down to avoid endless distressing phone calls from folks wanting a disco?

It got me thinking enough to fill about 3 sheets (typed) of A4 with 'What if...' instructions to put with the will, share certificates etc. in the little safe

I'm down to have serious surgery later in the year one or two people are aware that work may be coming their way and my good lady knows exactly where to find numbers and contact details of both trusted providers and clients alike.

What a nice thread :)

It's something I hadn't thought about, but I don't think it matters too much once you're brown bread! :D

No, seriously, it is a good point - I wouldn't want to leave anyone in the *expletive removed if I died, so I might look into this...

Yes.

Would they know who to contact for the Saturday after... and the ones after that ad infinitum?

Yes.

Would they have access to funds to repay deposits held?

No, but they have their own funds which they would initially use for this purpose.

Would they be able to finalise accounts to the taxman's satisfaction?

Yes, as I keep clear records of income & expenditure & all invoices & receipts are with the paperwork.

Or know how to get the website taken down to avoid endless distressing phone calls from folks wanting a disco?

No.

It's Malcolm. I was going to use that for the caption competition.

Speaking of competitions get your finger out with the MDD Pub Quiz question http://planetsmilies.net/vicious-smiley-1835.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)

I haven't got time for things like that...

I'm still working here.

You carry on - you appear to have plenty of time on your hands :sj:
