7 Power cuts/spikes before the power finally went out completely - I'd played about ten songs, total. I'll give the full account, if anyone's interested after some Zs.

Ouch... that's pretty shocking. I bet you were wondering watt on earth was going on.

Heavy rain, strong winds and power lines were arcing up the road from the venue.

I advised the groom that I was risking my equipment by continuing to play and that he had to be the one to say to continue or not. That said I plugged in my cheap back-up amp instead of my good one. All the delicate stuff (CD player, mixer, pre-amp signal processor and lap-top) were on a power condition/surge protector.

After all that the power went completely out for, as it turns out, 45 minutes, so I was advised to pack up. It did come back on, and I was starting to feel guilty about continuing packing until it went out again fifteen minutes later, and then repeatedly after that.

Fortunately someone had a portable battery-operated stereo unit so I gave the Bride and Groom the back-up CD I create for every function (first dance plus their top requests for the night), and they had their first dance by candlelight.

Eventful!
