I would imagine it would certainly not be a mc donalds.
I can't imaging there is much skill involved in that.. other than maintaining a nice spotty face and spitting in burgers ;)

I always try to steer away from things like Burger King and Mc Donalds when I can..... unless we are doing a day at the theatre wherew we are doing 3 shows with only a 30 minute break between the shows (it happens!!).. then we don't really have much choice... it's unhealthy and it taste like cr*p!

Got to say British Cuisine is one of the finest......although I've eaten in a nice little back street restaurant in Lyon (supossed to be the capital of French Cuisine)........and the food was superb....:)

They have two talents - on screen personality, and cooking. They are in the position they are in as a product of these two talents, but I suspect there are more talented chefs in the UK who do not want to be on TV.

In saying that, I think they've both been trying to portray a healthier image now.

I'm no food snob, but there are certain things that I simply will not eat - processed meat (have you seen what goes into this stuff :eek:), caged hens eggs etc

Are there any vegetarians here? I've considered it, well, just sticking to dairy and fish, but I'm too weak :o

Talented maybe, but if they are that talented that they have been awarded Mitchelin stars, then the public will know about them and they will appear on some kind of TV show.

There was a show on last year where the winners of each course would make it for the Queen and that bought a lot of 'never seen before' Mitchelin star winners to the forefront and onto TV. So I'd say if they have won any kind of award, then sooner or later they are going to be on TV doing something.

I doubt there are many. Look at the awards and acolades he's won. You don't get Mitchelin stars easily.

I became a fan of Gordon Ramsay when I saw the first of his "Kitchen nightmares" TV shows, and I'm currently watching the USA version.

Everything that guy says is 100% spot on, and he knows exactly what needs to be done to completely turn around a failing restaurant.

He is a very clever man, and I also find him entertaining too.

And give me a person (like a Chef) who doesn't want to go on tv? Not only will he be famous it will do his restraunt(s) a HUGE amount of good... think of the increase to business!

What i'm trying to say is that whilst they may not want TV and may not have the required 'presence' for TV but I bet your bottom dollar that they want to be recognised and want to become well known... why?... because it is a bit like recognition for cooking superb food.. and achievement.. and the more well known you are.. the more people will eat your food.. and the mroe people will be satisfied by your food.

There are of course chefs who don't want to become well known.. but I don't think these would be those innotive and amazing chefs.. otherwise people would here of them. - - A lot like reputation spreads for a good DJ.

I didn't intend to be patronising at all. How can I give an example of a chef who doesn't want to be famous - surely the only chefs that I could name that you would have heard of would be famous?

No, I still believe that there are chefs, and also musicians and artists that have no desire to get rich or famous, and are content to do what they do.
