Academic Achievements

Inspired by Rob (yeah I know! :eek: ) in another thread, I'd be interested to find out the academic achievements of my fellow DJ community (and anyone else that's interested in baring all).

Not too much detail, just the level attained. Al & other "foreign" visitors will have to work out what the equivalents are.

Strewth, there's only two votes on here so far.:eek: In my defence of only being educated to A level, I didn't go to uni cos I didn't think my liver would have stood it! ;) :D

I got Merit in a National Diploma in music pratice. not to sure where that would come under.

3 A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Computing, all grade B. Oh, and a Chemistry AS at Grade D.

5 Highers (A level) - English, Maths, Physics, Craft & Design and Graphic Communication. Three B's and 2 A's (Physics and Graphic Comm.).

It was a good start, but I'm afraid that DJing is the only thing I have to show for the decade that followed!

4 CSE's (2) - Art, Maths, Geoghaphy and ..........English :eek:

But then went onto the 'school of life'......City and Guilds in catering and an Engineering apprenticeship..........sort of...followed on by fabrication (square to round, bull nose joints....stuff like that) and welding.....although no cert's in these.....it's all in the head...:)

ive a got B in OCR I.T and a A in drama for light and sound work in grease. 3 more GCSE's to go in drama

Too old?! Who said that - you or someone else? When I was at college, there were guys a lot older than me there, one guy was in his late fifties! My Dad also did a catering course about 10 years ago, he'd have been 42 then.

Oh heck - Im one of the few here who's almost got a degree (so selected that as I finish it in October).

Don't let that put you off thinking I'm clever - it's taken me years to get with the Open University, fitting it around work, money, children, life.....etc. Will get my qualified teacher status within the next couple of years too. Sir!!!

I'm not sure of the exact equivalency but I finished our sixth form (the year I turned 16) with a mixture of Bs and Cs, mostly, I think. So I selected 'O-Level' - is that about right?

I left Seventh form part way through due to boredom, had a couple of false starts in business practice related certificates, and have done a few short courses in various things. Since worked in IT-support, Systems Admin and Database Admin with no quals in any of it ;)

If I remember rightly, about 3 CSE grade 1s (equivilent to O level grade C, I think), a couple of actual O levels at Grade C, & a certificate for 25 yards breast stroke.

I never stayed on to do A levels, and I never went into further education.

I think DJs are often stereotyped as being thick...but in my case it's true.

the company only wanted 18-25 year olds to go for the NVQ - a bit agist I thought, but what the hell, I've worked in retail for nearly 30 years so I think i know all about customer service etc. :bang:

Same here.

I was able to get the job I wanted with just my O levels, so I didn't see the point in going to college or university for a few years & racking up massive debts in the process!

After grammar school I took a business studies course at Tech College which included sitting 6 A levels. I studied accountacy and got to intermediate. Wish I had finished and taken finals but the music biz lured me away. Like I said in another thread I have had loads of fun and most of the time earned a good living but I am sure I would have made more money as an accountant.
