Datamoon Vs Magic Gobo

Sometime this month i wish to upgrade my lighting and want a 2 head lighting effect that i will use to light up the dance floor. they will be used with 2 blowstar/mushroom effects and an ImpossiabLED, 2xLightscreens:D and a LED moving message sign.

After some research i found the best lights for the job would be:
Acme Magic Gobo (2 head pack)
NJD Datamoon (2 head pack)

So after reading older threads about these lights i thought i would ask everyone for their opinions on these effects and what you think is better.

I want to be able to control the effects so that i can stop them rotating and slow them down for the beginning of the night then speed them up later on and be able to make them strobe and blackout on demand. also being able to control Gobo, speed would be a great bonus. (So in other worlds would like a small controller)

If you think there are any other lights that are better than the ones I've found feel free to post them for me:D

My budget is around £250 for both lights, controller, cables (and maybe even cases if budget will stretch.)

Never seen the acmes but use the datamoons and wouldn't consider replacing them with anything else.

Shop around - I've seen the kit with the (really substantial) flightcase for as low as £210 recently.

I've had both and the Datamoons are brighter. I seem to remember the Magic Gobos only being 100W? I remember them being moe compact than the Datamoons though.

If you want the controller to make them scroll and spin slowly, then get the Datamoons. The controller you get with them as a package is very easy to use and make them do what you want them to do.

They recommended me the Acme Magic Gobo's because of the way the work together and go in and out of synx to make it look more impressive and interesting. Is this true?

They are bright enough, but not quite as bright as the Datamoons.

Not sure about that. A moonflower is a moonflower. They spin round and change gobo and colour.

Don't forget to look at Acme Puma's. I used to use Datamoon's and they are a great effect. I have since changed to Puma's and I think they a little better. There are more programs and they are a little more compact than the data moon. You can pick up a pair for about £180. Cases are about £80 and hold two heads.

I use my pair like that on the Open gobo so with a little bit of haze nice white rotating beams!

Think you've probably seen a bad video. The shakey movement could have been the gobo shake feature. When focused properly the gobo's are very clear and they run together master slave very well with soem good inbuilt programs.

Thanks for the links. just seen the videos. The light does look better in these videos but that gobo shake feature would do my head in. I thought the camera man was having a fit or something.

This unit does look interesting, much more than the datamoon. When i go up to my local showroom my ask for a demo.
