Any good?

I've spent a couple of hours today going through my lock up, cleaning everything, checking audio leads etc etc and right at the back underneath everything I found a light that I didn't know I had. I am sure someone gave it to me a couple of years ago when I was starting out and getting my own gear togeather but I wondered what it was like.

It's a Martin Destroyer. Looks very dusty so will need a thorough clean out and also doesn't have the bracket on it so I can put a G-Clamp on it and (if it's any good) use it in the future...so my questions are ;

(a) Is this light any good?
(b) If it is, where could I get the bracket from?

I quite like the destroyers, I think I have a few somewhere up the attic (I'm such a hoarder). If I can find them you can have the bracket for the cost of postage. I'll have a look for it over the next day or so.

We've got two Destroyers at our venue where Will and I do Club Night. I quite like them personally, nice and bright!

Haven't got one, but they are a nice effect. Worth giving it a service & clean up etc.

I used to have 2 - sold them and now regret it. It was a guy on here that bought them off me on ebay (before I knew about this forum I hasten to add).

They are a fantastic light - especially if you have 2 and link them. Even better if you have a dmx controller. Definately keep it or you'll regret it.

Right, I've dusted the Destroyer off and cleaned it all inside and out and surprisingly, the bulb in it still works!

So, what remains is:

I need a lens on the front of it as that seems to have disappeared and the images are totally blurred.
I also need the bracket.

Other than that it looks pretty decent. The colours are nice enough and very bright. I think I may well use this but I need to sort the two things above so any help would be lovely jubbly!

Are you sure it has a lens missing? The lens sits just inside the case and is adjustable by either a single or two screws underneath. It may just need focusing!

Oh, ok...I'll have another look in a second.

Update - I've had another look and blimey, do I feel stupid. There is no lens there at all. I looked on the website to make sure and yes, the 2 screws are on the top of the unit and they should be attatched to the lens which you can manually adjust the focus with. The piece itself is attached to the screws and moves backwards and forwards but the lens itself is not there.

I assume that you can buy this part?
If not, does anyone who mentioned that they used to use these still have one that they don't use and would be willing to part with a bracket and lens?
Of course, I'll pay for them...I don't expect anything for free unless there is anything I can give in return?

I've had a rummage up the attic and I've found the bracket and lens you're looking for. If you can arrange for a courier to uplift the package, you can have them 'free for uplift' - I don't want anything for them. Drop me a PM and I'll give you my address. :approve:
