View Full Version : I/O EQ Laptop Conundrum
Hi!
Our set up consists of a Laptop, controlled by a numark total control and feeding into an external soundcard (Numark DJ I/O).
The I/O has a Microphone input, but only has a volume control.
Is there anyway I can fit some e.q type device between my Mic and I/O so I can level and eq the microphone?

In Short Terms NO.
I don't think this is possiable to do with a microphone.
Really? There is simply no way around this problem at all!??
That only makes me more determined to fix it some way....

Ryu the only way i can think of doing it is plugging the mic into your laptop and running it through one of the many DJ programs around.
If i remember correctly the Numark Total Control doesnt have a dedicated EQ for its mic input.
Thats correct spud. I do have an input for my laptop (its small jack, microphone is big jack) but aside from the jack problems, Is there a bit of quality sacrifice by running the Mic through the laptop?
Alternatively, what set up (using a laptop) would you have suggested to nip the Mic EQing problem in the bud?
Thanks for your help with this by the way ;o)

Adapters available.

Yes. you probably will lose a bit but not sure how much. i have never tried this. this is something you will have to experiment with.

Try an ordinary CD mixer using phono jacks to connect to your laptop. Too be honest not sure depends on what you want.
But this would only work if you wanted laptop on a single channel and CD player or something on another.
...and with that would be unable to use the Total Control.... Hmmm...will have to get my thinking cap on....
