Just a question that I'm confused with. A simple yes/No question will do.

There are many, many, many videos available on You Tube and now there are many ways of saving or downloading videos from these sites to your computer.

So where do we stand on playing these videos in front of a live audience???

Not sure if i would actually use videos from You Tube (for obvious reasons) but just wondered how we stand legally.

Would be actually be aloud to play these video???

If they didn't have any copyright on them - eg: music etc, then I suppose so. You might need the owners permission though.

I think it's the same case as taping from the TV - in most cases the content is copyrighted, so no would be the answer.

The quality of these videos are not of the quality you would want to use anyway in a show....

I video dj every weekend and have to say the quality counts for a lot when shown on a big screen they look really bad....

I video dj every weekend and have to say the quality counts for a lot when shown on a big screen they look really bad....Yeah, I think that was the implied 'obvious reasons' he mentioned - definitely poor quality in terms of playing in anything other than a small window on your PC.

I think the question was really born out of curiosity. Someone else suggested recently that the audio in music videos on youtube is good enough to play live, and I reckon that might be true, as you'd probably just about get away with that.

Just wondered because I've never heard this being brought up before and i wondered if anyone else has tried this.

But some of the videos (not many) are very good quality and are even described as in HD:eek:
