I've been toying with the idea of adding a laser light to my set up.

I don't really want to spend anymore than £250, and looking on the tinterweb there are plenty to choose from in that price range. Can any of you guys give me any advice as to what I should be looking for (i've heard the light itself don't last very long) or recomend any particuler laser.

for a little bit more ypu could go for the kam cluster laser but for 250 you will get an ok laser but nothing other than red and green

I'm looking for the good old fashioned 1980's classic "beams, tubes and curtain" effect.

I've seen the cluster effects and don't like them.

Just look around the internet and find a laser that gives a suitable effect that you like - it really isn't hard to find them and picture :-)

Try to buy something with a known name on it. Such as Kam, Purelight etc.
There has been an influx of lasers from China that are potentially downright dangerous as they have not passed any safety tests and do not comply with H&S regulations due to lack of safety features etc.

Or if your feeling adventerous you can buy a moving head laser for about £900

not all the lasers from china are dangerous 95% of the ones that are sold on ebay are ok there are some nice lasers from germany laserworld
or what about a 250w scanner with a 4.9mw laser built in only £159

Have a read - there is only general safety advice. There appears not to be any rules or regulations regarding laser safety in this country so I'm not sure if that statement really stands Simon?
