Hi all,

Im part of a group that is organising a rave in Sittingbourne in a few months time and we hope to make some money for charity.


here is the site that we created in 5 minutes. would you please tell me what you think and what we could add.

(its in the early stages at the moment)

We are planning to have a 5-6hour rave with 3 MC's and 5 DJ's including myself.

we are also getting sponsorship and support from sittingbourne council

we are having indoor fireworks and vertical haze machines and a open bar :)

if all goes well and money is made we are going to plan a NYE rave which will cost slight more but will be longer.

You haven't been reading Rob's post on this. It's THEIR.

You want to look professional or you will attracted the wrong sort of crowd.

Now, the event. To do this you may well need a licence as organisers.

Check this:-

You can buy one day licences for one-off events.

Make sure you have checked all the H&S problems you might meet at the venue, such as maximum capacity, fire exits etc. Keep within sensible proportions.

And be sure that you have suitable adults in attendence at all times. You might need security staff also.

I don't want to scare you off, but you do need to realise how much preperation it will take.

It never looks good to have bad grammar / spelling when you are trying to sell something.

And he needs to look into this event a bit more IMHO.

Wyvern Hall in Central Avenue is a nice big venue, just a few thoughts:

What is the music policy and what age of punter are you hoping to attract? Reason for asking is you are marketing this as a "rave" as opposed to a "charity event", a "rave" is traditionally about Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Breaks and <cough> illegal substances :eek:

Have you specced/sourced the sound system - if so, what's the spec?

Also, remember Wyvern Hall is opposite Sittingbourne Police Station :)

Well, no, traditionally a rave was about techno/hardcore, then happy hardcore and gabba, then trance and hard house with drum 'n' bass floating in and out of popularity and usually having its own room, anyway.

Breaks has been around for about eight or nine years, dubstep for three or four... not enough time for "tradition" really :D

Having helped organise a fair few charity and theme nights myself in the past, my advise is to pick one or the other. If you want to raise money for charity, a rave isn't the best option. If you want to organise a night with a theme or musical style that you're passionate about, then go for it and be prepared to take a loss if it doesn't work out quite how you planned it.

well good for you if you pull it off
but i am prob like most of the forum members on hear that carnt stand mcs i think they spoil the music being played.
i could listen to 1 or 2 hardcore tracks but couldnt listen to it all night
with a rave comes drunken teeny boppers who have taken something they shouldnt of and a few fights hope you are gonna employ a lot of security

The thing is most teenages on the isle of seppey love drum and bass. and in sittingbourne a lot love trance/techno so they enjoy there selfs and we make some money for charity.

watts don't mean much, however unless that's 3.2k of very highly efficient boxes, then IMHO if you're planning a proper "rave" in a 500-capacity, 3,000+ sq ft space, then that's seriously under-specced

unless of course the 3,200w is just the delay stacks :cool:

As in regards to what has been said one thing that hasnt been covered is the indoor fireworks, Make sure your PLI covers you incase you burn the place down should anything go wrong.

The equipment were using is fully PLI and PAT'ed

We are getting a company in to set the indoor fireworks set up

It's not the equipment PLI that's required, it's the Event, if I understand correctly. The fireworks company will probably have this, but it won't hurt to be covered twice.

Can't see why you would want barriers but you could try a company called Fenced Inn.... They are based in iwade. Ask for either Gary or Trish

I've played at the wyvern on many an occasion and on a regular basis and one thing i know is that haze machines and the fireworks will be a big NO NO... Not sure about the open bar thing... if you mean having your own bar that again will be a NO NO as you have to use the bar in the wyvern.
