What makes/model of external hard drives does everyone use for gigging?.

I use a Buffalo 320GB External bought late last year. Obviously don't gig as yet but will bring it with me when i do.

I just bought 2 x 750s for £99 each...should've looked at the TB ones!

I sidelined one of these because of the 'sleep' function... but for anyone that's interested the newest d2 director firmware (1.09) keeps these 'awake' ... presumably by polling the drive at regular intervals... and this is no longer an issue.

Well, for d2 users anyway.

Another good reason to buy one! :D

I've no idea what the auto sleep's purpose is, but it does exactly as it describes. If the unit isn't used for a short while the inner workings go into a 'stand by' mode...which causes a delay in the track starting when I press play.

Same here - plus a 400GB version and another 400 at home. The freecoms are very reliable.
I have 3 backup copies of my laptop's hard drive. Always have 2 with me and one at home.
Sorry if it sounds like overkill but I've had dead hard drives in the past and I know how vulnerable our valuable music is.

My Seagate goes to sleep if left idle a long time ---but when playing continually from it never have track start up problems using the Cortex.

my WD never goes to sleep...why would it....my DJ software is constantly accessing the tracks so not sure why you would get rid of the drives for that reason...and yes I do need 2x 750gb for music, karaoke and video and a complete back up.
