Hi just bought a transcension lighting controller and i have a problem :(
http://www.bluearan.co.uk/menu/index.php?id=TRNCONT06&product=Transcension_DMX_Master_II_Scanner_Control ler
I set all my lights up in my office the other day with all the correct DMX codes and links etc. and it worked perfectly :) .
I turned it on yesterday and it does not now :( .
Every time i turn the unit on now it comes on to different lights. some time none, other times all the lights etc. it is supposed to come on to manual mode and just work, but the unit is not responding at all. I have tried all manner of things but no luck.
I have a gig on SAT and a fashion show on Wenesday in which I need the lights to pan the catwalk. At this rate im going to be using floodlights :p
Any help useful :)

What do you mean by it should just work in manual mode?
It's a DMX controller, surely you need to programme it before it does anything? You could move the fixtures manually via the faders I suppose, but you'd be better off using them master and slave.

Darren - I think he means that when he turns on the control it should be in manual mode and should respond to his command.
Either by using the faders or the banked scenes. - Although it is indeed a very poor description of the problem.
You need to make sure that the scanner buttons on the left are actually selected - if they are not selected then the fixture you desire to control will not respond.
You also need to make sure it is NOT in blackout mode (which over-rides everything)
You need to make sure all your units are linked properly.
You need to make sure that your units are all set to the correct DMX address using the LED display or using dip switches. otherwise things will overlap and will not work correctly.
other than that I can't suggest much because your description of the problem is poor.
If you are unable to provide a clearer statement of the problem I suggest strongly you do not try to do too much at once. Start off with one fixture and then once you have mastered that try a different fixture etc and build it up. Otherwise you are just jumping in the deep end.. and as you have shown.. that often doesn't work.

Thanks for the advice :) sorry for the bad description i will try again ;)
Have tried all of that and everything is how it should be but the unit simply does not respond to any button being pressed. Tried blackout, pressing program mode and unselecting/deselecting the scanners etc.
Also tried turning it on connected to the lighting and not connected. waited for all lights to go through there startup boot until turning it on and vice versa. all dmx addresses are correct (not the lights). Don't really know what else to do?
Each time i turn it on it seems to change what buttons are lit up. The booklet said it should automatically go on to manual mode and be ready for programming. What is annoying is it was working and i thought i finally had lighting control. i ahcnaged nothing and the next morning i have this problem.
Here is a link to a very similar controller. He has his on with nothing connected and can press/deselect all buttons. mine does not respond to any buttons.

Luckily i live near blue aran so taking it to be checked tomorrow, but a solution would be great (if there is one) :( as i have a stacked weekend and really don't have time to go to southampton :D
With what sam said. I have the same controller as you. The controller has its own dip swtichs that you should follow. Dont use the one's that come with the lights as they wont work.
your lights should have the dips on right place like below:
light 1 - dip 1
light 2 - dips 1 & 5
light 3 - dips 1, 5 & 6
light 4 - dips 1, 5 & 6
light 5 - dips 1 & 7
light 6 - dips 1, 5 & 7
light 7 - dips 1, 6 & 7
light 8 - dips 1, 5, 6 & 7
light 9 - dips 1 & 8
light 10 - dips 1, 5 & 8
light 11 - dips 1, 6 & 8
light 12 - dips 1, 5, 6 & 8
Hope this helps at all.

Done that when i unpacked the unit and the lights have worked perfectly with the controller ;) . The problem is with the unit.
I turned it off after having a great time and it does not respond now to anything! When you turn yours on you can you press buttons and lights go on and off, i assume?
When turned on mine It alternates between all lights being on and then just a few and then none randomly. the only thing which stays the same is that when i press the buttons - nothing :bang: .
-
Its the DMX OPERATOR 2.
Have you checked all the leads. I had a few duff leads which i had to repair, once done everything worked again.

Will do.
one question, can you switch on and off the different lights on the controller (ie the scanner buttons) when it is not plugged in to any of the lights? dmx cables pulled out of unit etc?

Ithink we are on different wavelengths ;)
check out the video at the beginning of the post. The bloke has all connections disconected and can press buttons on and off. I cant get any responce from my unit (im getting bored of saying that  ). I was hoping someone else has had the same problem?
im taking it back tomorrow for tests.
It might be me being very stupid :o but i will let you know either way.
