When you go see a band at a function or you are working with a band what do you prefer -
1 x 90 minute slot or 2 x 45 minute slots?
I like the 2 x 45 minute slots as it gives a break in between.
What about everyone else?

I much prefer 2x 45min slots as it gives the audience a rest and a great time to get to the bar and is a chance to wake people up again if the band isn't very good:D. Plus it stops you from getting too bored waiting:) .

Also gives the band a break, although why they should want one when most "name" bands will play sets of up to (& often longer than) 90 mins when on tour doing consecutive nights often for months on end, is beyond me.

We're working with a Motown band at the end of this month and they are doing 3 x 40 minutes. That's at least an hours work for us then....

Much prefer the 2 x 45mins,but a band I am working with on Saturdayis doing 60mins as there is too much going on in the night as it is a civic head fund raising event which has dinner speeches raffles then they have band then me-All that in a 7 - 12 slot!! Easy night for me!!:).

as a dj i prefer 2 x 45s because as said earlier it breaks the night up, and makes my job easier
also from another angle, If i was at a function as a guest, i would prob get bored with 90 mins from a band unless they were brilliant.

I agree with the others you really want 2 sets from them to make it cost effective-- the cost of live music is usually quite high.
I doubt everyone could keep dancing that long for 1 set.

Why do you keep quoting people's posts and then talking about something else - it's confusing me....:p :D

As one half of a high energy Blues Brothers Tribute act, I much prefer two spots of 45 mins. As "the fat one" as most people call me, or Jake Blues to those in the know, I'd be completely knackered at the end of a 90min spot. I'd probably lose so much weight in sweat that I'd have to stop playing Jake!
