dynamo fan gone

i noticed last night that one of my dynamos had a fan not working.
annoyingly they are just outside of the guarantee period- anyone else had this problem and if so was it was it easy to fix?

i wonder with things like this whether its easier/cheaper to buy a new one??

Fans are pretty cheap to fix. will cost no more than £10 to fix but probably no more than a £5.
Fans do occasionally go like any component. Normally due to either dust build up or just wear and tear. I give mine a clean every now and then with an air duster or if they are really bad a little isopropal alcahol on the blades to clean them.
They are really easy to replace.

Go down to maplins or you can order one from your local dj shop. They are normally either 12v or 240 volt. I think the dynamo's are 12v. Very handy as they are the same size and voltage as most computer fans. Making them very cheap.

Unscrew the top off the unit. And detach the fan (4 screws make sure you dont drop them) fan will either be attached direct to internal cable in which case you will have to cut it and solder the new fan in. Or it may have the clip on connector in which case they should fit straight on to the connector. When reattaching the new fan ,make sure it blows in the right dirrection. If not you will have to turn the fan around in the unit.
Make sure you tighten the screw well or it will vibrate which could damage the units bulb.
And thats about it.
Pretty easy to do.

i did have a quick look at the gig last night but was struggling to get the back off- am i right in saying that i was missing a screw or two and you can get the back off rather than go in from the front?

Whole side panel should come of on the dynamo's I know mine do.
