... several of the teens at your gig spend half the night recording videos of your rig and set on their mobile phones ;)

Could it perhaps be related more to the relative paucity of the remuneration required to secure your services, rather than the superlative service and excellent endeavours of your good self?

By the time you've worked it out. I'll be behind here! :sofa:

No.

Glad to hear it. It does happen however, I myself was replaced by a lower cost option in a prestigious venue. I was always delighted when my customers related what a crap disco they had experienced there subsequent to my removal! :D Not nice of me I know, but satisfying, all the same. And before you ask,no I was not reinstated there, but still go there for some of my own customers. ;)

It's obvious that you have not grasped all the subtle nuances of this forum yet, young Spud. Since this is a place for DJ's with lofty ideals, sound business practices, and regular PAT testing, do you honestly think there's anybody on here who works cheaper than I do?   :D :D

( Answer, yes there's one, but he's a self admitted hobbyist, and nowhere near this area! ):D

just because the other DJ was cheaper than you and a few people said not as good as you doesn't mean hes not a professional.

Maybe he does it for his love in this industry and not for the money. :D

Someone suggested to me that i do mobile disco as a hobby but i think its silly and unfair. You either do it professionally, or don't do it at all. :(

Where did I say he wasn't a professional? Since it was a residency at a top venue, it's unlikely that they would get what we would now call a "bedroom DJ " as their resident!
What I meant was, that since most people on here pride themselves on their integrity, qualtiy of service, and customer satisfaction, it's highly unlikely that they would be gaining business purely by undercutting me.

We've also had this before, you can do discos as a Hobby in a Professional manner ( as opposed to the :cowboy: ) which I suspect is what you do. No offence if I've got it wrong in your case, but you see what I mean I hope.

You know you're doing a great job when, the landlord (who has had the same pub for 20 odd years) says you're the best St Patrick's Day entertainment they've ever had.

Yeah, but since the entertainment for nineteen years has been you, it's not that big a compliment, is it ? :p

I must be missing something, but as far as I know, the only protection needed for a Bhodran is a crash helmet and goggles?

That's only for the spectators.

I should've worn some plasters on the first & second fingers of my beating hand. It was rather messy by the end, blisters & flayed skin everywhere.

You know you're doing a great job when:

- You get that weird rush of excitement from seeing a pumping, full dancefloor of people who are totally enjoying themselves and dancing to what you are enjoying playing for them.

- You feel even happier when someone comes and add a totally superb and suitable request to the set you are playing which shows their appreciation of what you're playing.

- You want to play one more, never mind waiting for the crowd to ask for it - and you're enjoying yourself that much you resent the fact you've got to stop in about 15 minutes.

- You get a massive kiss from the women and also some extra cash as a tip in your hand at the same time. (Like I got on Saturday!)

You know when you are doing a great job when....

The party which was supposed to finish at midnight actually finishes at 2.30am and you have a pint glass sitting there full to the brim with money that works out just as much as you charged in the first place! (the only downer being that it's embarassing when the host gets on the mic and praises you over and over again and all you want to do is pack up now you've finished).

You know you're doing a great job when:

You get home & there is an email enquiry for another similar party from a guest at the one you've just done & it was sent before you've even left the venue they saw you at (as happened at the weekend, nobody left early either)
