Just purchased 2 impossibleds and intend (in the short term) using a CA-8 controller with them.Is there any recommended configuration for these with the CA-8?

I tend to use show 1 and show 3 the most . Show 1 runs through all the show settings and provides a good varied selection. Show 3 is less manic and is good for a wide coverage of colour on the floor. There's 12 selectable 'shows' on the impossibleds, have a play around and find the ones that suit you best. Have fun. :)

I run show 3 at most of my gigs as i have other lights that whizz around.

When you mean show 1 and show 3 do you mean from the ca8 controller or the dmx at the back of the impossibled???

From the LCD readout on the back of the impossibled.

From the controller.

Press 'Mode' button then press the 'function' button to scroll through all the shows. You'll be able to see which show you've selected by looking at the LED display on the back of the impossibled.

ooppss.
I jumped the gun a bit there.
EliteDJ is correct , use the controller and read the LCD on the impossibled.
I tend to use program 3 as well, not quite so manic.

Thats is the one trouble with the impossibled when it is up 8 feet on a rig
and pointing downwards you cannot see the display on the back anyway

Fit a mirror to it at 90 degrees to the body. Problem solved :sj:

It doesn't matter if you change it on the back of the unit or on the CA-8 controller its the same "shows".

I no longer use this effect with a controller as it seems pointless. i just leave it on show 0 which goes through the over shows. the only thing that i can't do now is make it strobe on command which i can live with. I think if you leave it on 1 show all night it gets to repetitive and boring.

Which is why I tend to change the shows depending on the tempo, or sometimes switch it off for half an hour and use moons instead. Bit of variety

Mine gets most use on 3, 5 and 9

well i usually use two of these on the start up show but .... on saturday took the plunge as i had a 13th "nightclub" theme party ditched the mirrorball and colour changers and went with 1 impossibled 2 lasers and 2 moving heads .....it looked really good ...... i was genuinely surprised yes it was a small venue with about 30 kids the lasers only on about 4 times but it was plenty of light . the spread on these is really massive i did take both to use but the two would have been far far too much.

But if you're using the CA-8, you can just scroll through the programmes to get to a less manic one if that's what you're looking for.

That's exactly what I used last Friday in a small venue too!!
