What name?

Hya folks, as I'm just setting up my own show am in a pickle over a name for the show :confused:

Now as youl notice from my sig I have what I have simply as my name is Duckworth :D but as am a bit of a rocker at heart I was also thinking of "Krazy Nights, Mobile Disco" and was thinking of an edited version of krazy, krazy nights by Kiss as the show opener, this would have a talk over introducing myself pre recorded with some effects thrown in.

What do ya think I should go with? :Meeting:

Seriously I LOVE Krazy Nights by Kiss BUT it depends on the market you are in.

If a lot of your functions need that type of rock music--fine.

For family functions of mixed ages including Weddings and Black Tie you might need something else.

I personally have no problem with it but I read that corporate clients dont look for disco in the title, Depends what market you looking to attract I think was the point.

How about just simple Karl D Entertainment/Roadshow

I had a corporate company approach me and they wanted me to do a disco in germany. They paid for everything from getting there and back, 5* hotel, food, drink. Everything, and i have disco in my name.

I dont mean any offence to anyone but when i look at companys with entertainment/s i usually think of multi op companys who look for a dj for your event (who is free basically). With disco i see a single op who if you book with him then you have him and not a random person if you see what i mean.

I dont want this to start anything, just giving my opinion.

hya kma i agree with you there, entertainment/s sort of implies that you offer other services too and roadshow implies something huge.

Good point actually. Although not exactly a one man band I often wonder about having 'entertainments' in my name - too late to change now I think - I often get calls asking to supply clowns, magicians etc.
But on the other hand still get the 'how much?' calls from yellow pages so not sure if having entertainments in my name makes the difference or not.

don't think it matters either way. Some people will want a personal disco service, and booking someone with "disco" in the name implies a smaller operation and personal service. Such a client might be put off by being just another gig for some big "entertainments" company. On the other hand, some clients might equally be put off by the smallness of a one man band, and want the whole entertainments package. Also depends what you offer. If you are just a disco, not much point putting entertaiments. On the other hand, if you can supply magicians, karaoke, clowns, horse racing, casino etc etc, disco would sell you short. Horses for courses.

Speaking of general rules regarding names... apparently using initials is a marketing no-no. Main reason being that, for example, 'JK Disco' could also be 'JayKay Disco' and as such people have a 50/50 chance of finding you in the phone book or other directories on their first attempt... some people give up after their first attempt.

over here in the good ol' USA (230 years and counting) much to my dismay the tern "disco" only refers to disco music of the 70s and early 80s, so the "entertainments" in the title thing works well here or in my case "A#1 DJ service"
(wife made that one up).
It's 6 and one half dozen to me. :p

Of course we get Coro over here, a significant chunk of our population is of English descent and often only one or two generations removed from Blighty. Both of my parents are/were English, for example - they had only been in NZ 4-5 months when I was born.

The 'X' doesn't cover "All generations", though, as 'Generation X' is a specific term relating to a certain age-group:

Then all you have to do is to promote the image of a Crazy, zany, offbeat entertainer--who is different to other DJs.

I haven't learnt the art of being krazy over the mic yet, I tend to keep the chatter to a minimum and let the tunes do the talking.
I may also be doing karaoke so may go with the name I was thinking of a while back "Vibes Mobile Disco & Karaoke" its easy to remember and no nonsense.

If I need to be, then I have it in my locker to entertain people.

I just can't stand that phrase you used.

It is very often used by people who don't know how and when to use the mic and have no idea about entertaining people. (Not saying that's true of you of course)

Compared to my mate I am quite low profile he has a habit of talking over the music bantering with the punters, thats not really my style I use the mic when needed between genra changes etc. people want to dance to music and not have the micky took for doing so and certainly dont need me to be talking over the music unless its one of them tracks that requires a bit more interaction.
